A brief reflection and look at how far our community has come since joining. I’ve been in the mechanical keyboard hobby for a very long time. It started as a high school student’s search for a keyboard for writing novels back in the 2008-2009 school year. I thought I wanted to be an author and I felt I needed a keyboard that I could sit down to at my desk and just write. After researching, joining forums, and saving money, I made my first purchase in the hobby, a blank black Happy Hacking Keyboard Professional 2. A greedy part of me wishes that I'd ordered blanks, 'cause then I'd be getting a free set of extra caps.
On the other hand, if I *had* ordered blanks, then I could just as legitimately gripe that "you SOBs that ordered ABS got exactly what you ordered, and I haven't gotten my order filled yet!!!"
Personally, I don't need an extra set of caps, or a letter of apology, or a kiss from Scarlett Johansson, or a pony, or a puppy.
I knew that this was a *preorder*, and was not entirely ignorant that sometimes folks like MD need to deal with communications confusion (especially when crossing the English/Mandarin divide) and the mistakes that can happen when ordering across the seas.
It should be obvious (if it's not already) that with a Mass Purchase, there is an enhanced risk of a Mass Mistake, and this is obviously a case where this has happened. And if you aren't prepared to accept your portion of such risk, then perhaps MassDrop isn't for you.
That doesn't leave MD staff unscathed; I think they would have fewer irritated purchasers if a bit more had been explained a bit earlier. But the "worst" of it is that it would have been nice to get Mark's explanation of yesterday a couple days earlier, which wouldn't truly change anything in any massive way.
