I'm not a knife guy but this does exactly what i want. VERY easy to flip the knife, no idea why other people are having a problem flipping this knife because its smooth opening.
I've so far used it to cut cardboard, snip 24 core fibre cable straight off the role multiple times (I work in a data centre) I did this by closing the knife and wedging the cable and using the knife like a guillotine.
Iv'e used the sharp tip of the knife to unscrew a screw or 2 on a server so I'm guessing the actual flat headed screwdriver bit on the knife will do the same.
All in all well worth the price, very nice weight to it so I'm guessing this will last for years to come.
Only downside was the damn import tax from america to UK, sort your Import tax america its waaaaaay to high for the rest of the world.
Despite that I have nicer knives in my small but well-loved collection, I find this to be a nearly-perfect EDC. The Kai blade takes to a sharpening very nicely, and hasn't shown an ounce of corrosion despite having lived in a marine environment from time to time. The bottle opener grips well and is indestructible, and the scales are grippy and durable - they've aged exceptionally well without showing the marks they should've picked up when being dropped, slid, or ground against keys for a year. The bonus of the flat-head/pry tool on the back is useful and appreciated. The best part? This drop gets you one to reserve after you lose the first one.
Disappointed in these knives. Very hard to flip open ,Ive never been able to flip fully open via studs . The screws are glued in with loctite. One screw under the clip was not even catching thread , it fell out and I could see its threads were full of hardened Loctite. It would not screw back in. I've owned lots of cheap Kershaws the past 20 years , none were this shoddy. Be careful with this knife, due to the stiff action flipping open ,the blade does not always fully seat. You may think it's fully locked but it's not ,it can close on you. The blade is sharp enough to give you a bad cut when the lock fails during use. QC must have been really bad when these were made. I bought one for my son but took it back from him due to the intermittent lock failure. I replaced it with a cheap OsoSweet, that was safer. Worst Drop ever.
I have cut myself numerous times while holding and using this knife. There is no protection between grip cutout and blade edge, which protrudes prominently, so it's very easy to cut leading finger while adjusting grip. Even without changing grip I can cut myself just by gripping hard and pushing.
These come two to an package and I got two. It's not that I needed any more but I didn't have one in blue and these were selling at a very good price. I have opened two. One was terrific. The other had a significant deviation in the blade, but it did not affect opening or closing and the lock up was solid. I sharpened it and then gave it to a friend who was very happy with it. The other two remained boxed up, unopened. They will be gifted unless I lose mine. This is a wonderful $10.00 knife. I have no regrets about the purchase.(Look at my rating as 3 out of 4. A knife in this price range won't get a 5 from me. I have too many really good ones, like the Gent that just came.)
14themoneyFor the price, it makes a great gift for a colleague or acquaintance. I agree there are many more knives out there worth the 5 star rating and this isn’t one of them. The Gent for example is one of the finest “little” knives I have.
ItsDartsI was playing with my Recon1 today (the S35VN one). Yeah, the Gent is a bit on the little side. But have you seen the Buck NanoBantam. No? Well. That's not surprising. it is teeny tiny!
Good little knives for the price, but the clips have a bad habit of bending out when you take them from the pocket and its not easy to get them back into shape
