Product Description
While many of the mice we feature here on Drop fit the bill as “Mech Keys approved”, it’s rare that there’s a mouse that aims to merge the two worlds in quite such an intentional fashion. Enter the LOFREE Touch PBT Wireless Mouse Read More

Are the switches hot swap?
They aren't - the MX mounts are on top of normal mouse switches.
A mech specific mouse with MX keycap buttons, but no information on the switches used or the u-size of the compatible keycaps?
The caps are shaped for the mouse, mostly intended to be swapped out with other colors offered by Lofree. Some regular keycaps might fit on this mouse, but most won't. It uses regular mouse switches with MX-mount buttons on top.

DeadeyeDaveGlad to know it's just a bait and switch product. Drop should really be ashamed for selling a product that advertises itself as a mouse with mech keys when it doesn't actually have mech keys and doesn't work with standard caps.
stevecole90099I wouldn't call it a bait and switch product in and of itself, but I would say the description here on Drop is unfortunate when it comes to customer expectation. It does give people the wrong idea in a subtle but critical way. On Lofree's own site, the intention is a bit more clear; it's a PBT mouse with a small selection of available buttons that are themed like mechanical keyboard keys and can be swapped around in the same manner. It's amazing how much difference a little mindful expectation management in the right place can make. @Jyri_Drop @HoffmanMyster If you folks would ever like any help with that, it's one of the things I do professionally. Real-world anecdote you might be able to read about: A good while back, an app development company called Robots & Pencils learned this first-hand when they made a 3rd-party companion app for Minecraft. When their app's title started with the word "Minecraft" they got unholy amounts of hate mail - legitimately gave the people in this small company a scary experience when they were just trying to make a neat thing. They changed the title to have "for Minecraft" at the end and bam - hate mail dried up, and the app did fairly well until it was made redundant by a native one.
DeadeyeDaveGreat callout, and definitely an opportunity for improvement especially in cases like this. For additional context, much of the description and specs here comes from the partner providing the item, and could do with some more tweaking and customizing to make things clear without the broader context of the home site/shop. Will be funneling this feedback up to the rest of the team to improve going forward. Please continue to provide this sort of feedback in the future, anyone who might be seeing this comment.

Welcome to Drop! Uniquely specializing in a "no pressure" online sales approach that brings you the coolest, most obscure boutique items without the headache of having to be assaulted by boring details like "technical/material specification" and "how to use" jargon. I was wondering since it charges via USB type C, if we can use it wired as well and if that would increase the polling rate?

Wired use via USB C is an option and includes a cable for charging, but presuming use of a similarly ultra-budget controller to the sensor, you're not getting anywhere near the kind of performance where 1,000hz makes any perceivable difference. lofree.co/products/lofree-touch-pbt-wireless-mouse?variant=44069849039067

i really want this mouse, but am concerned about the DPI settings, are they hard set to 800, 1600, 2400, 3600, 4000? Or can you change that with software or something?

According to their site steps are adjustable by 200dpi increments, presumably somehow an on-board adjustment as a complaint in a review on the product page provides that software is not available. lofree.co/products/lofree-touch-pbt-wireless-mouse?variant=44069849039067

What are the profile and sizes of the keycaps that come with the mouse?
They are shaped and sized specifically for this mouse and don't really correlate to actual keyboard keys aside from being swappable via MX mount. Lofree makes a handful of different colors that can be changed out, most normal keys won't fit on this mouse.
