Massdrop: the single most important piece of information about a flashlight is HOW it operates. A description of the mode of operation (what happens when I click the switch? How do I access the various modes listed in the specs? Will it stay at the setting I last used, or is that programmable?) is essential, and is conspicuously missing from all of your flashlight drops.
Why?
SandmanMy Copper Prince is my favorite torch currently. And my wife keeps her Brass Prince close by also (as well as a couple of the Mini Prince's). Operates with an end clicky. It is not programmable, but does have a memory. Returns to the mode last used. Change mode with a half click while on, and goes through Low/Medium/High in order. I have no affiliation, just a product I like.
Here's a pic I just I just took to show a little copper in various stages of patina. The Prince had the front portion polished last night. The back portion is natural from a little pocket carry.
SandmanI know...but UI is not required in most flashlight sell on other store either. At least this one you can find the UI on lumintop website. the titaner EDC drop one is even worse due to the reason you can not find the UI on their won website either...and the UI is soooo non- functional one....
BflyingI like your custom touches on the Falcon and Crux, do you have the titanium side of your 0452 also anodized?
Also the snakeskin and everything on top is intriguing me almost as much as the knives.
MDDogeThank you. The Python skin was picked up at a local Tandy. Was going to use it just for holster and sheath inlays, but it gets progressively more difficult to cuts peices off. I'd really like it better hanging on my wall. π
BflyingAh I'm a sucker for a good gradient ano. Did you have these professionally done or do them yourself? Also, I'm not a lanyard guy myself but I can definitely appreciate them when they're well done. The metal coils are a nice touch.
That makes sense with the skin; it'd look great as part of a sheath or holster, but wall decoration isn't a bad plan either.
MDDogeI did do the ano myself, which is why they have that "home craft project" look. When something intrigues me, I have a tendency to binge on it until I can hit at least the novice level. Then, some skills just blow away. Others sometimes stick around. You can see some of my progression over in the Falcon and Crux discussion's. Also my very first (with trial, error, and more errors) on bladeforums.com,.

I started out with a few batteries, alligator clips, and Coca-Cola. Just recently bought a DC Power supply for anodizing. They are not really expensive, but it's very easy to run out of titanium fast. Like I did. π€£ππ€ͺ Now some of my blades have changed color a dozen times. In fact, the ZT0450 and ZT0456 have changed colors already since the pic above. π
And the lanyards.... Let's just say that I thought they looked stupid. That is until I actually tried a couple. Now I'm "hooked". π I started hooking my little finger on the lanyard to pull, then it leaves the rest of fingers to get a better grip on the knife handle. Just personal preference. And the coil beads came about because I started to get bored with skulls. The copper is just house wire scraps. The silver was brought in because I thought I might want to try making some jewelry for my wife. It is .999 Fine Silver. And just recently picked up some Ti wire. .... So it can be ano'd to maybe match the handles.
Holy crap, I got more long winded than usual. π Aaannyyway .... Here is a pic of my very first snake inlay. This is literally the very worst part of the skin. But I like how it came out.
BflyingI like you dude, youβre a man after my own heart haha. Nice job on the ano, Iβm not into lanyards either, but I dig and appreciate the concept.
SeadonkeyLoveI like it a lot...but it does have some issues...the knife can be a bit thinner, both handle and blade. the clip is not the best and the flipper tab is a bit too pronounced, I got scratched many times when I reach my pocket...
SeadonkeyLoveThanks man. The Crux really is a good knife. Worth trying out if you get the chance. But I needed to do more than just ano to make it worth carrying. First off, I hated the texture of the original finish. So sanded it all off before anodizing. The forward finger choil was odd shaped and cut my finger, so I routed it out to be more symmetrical. The lock was difficult to access and a little uncomfortable. So I rounded the inside edge of the lock. And enlarged the access point on the front scale. And clip has its well documented issues, and will be replaced in time. Now it's a really nice little EDC for the price.
BflyingAll logical and worthy mods, I definitely get why youβd want to do those things. I have the Fulcrum and I agree with your assessment if it cimparible to it. I am either going to grind down the clip myself or just not mess with it and grab another one when they come out.
Bflyinglooks better in person...the low key blue I did is a bit gray looking with the sun light.
I made two tone on the purple but it is a bot hard to see in pic
SanderSkjegstadIf you are talking about my pic of 8 knives lined up, here they are from left to right....
