If you actually use this light, it wont dull like these pictures show. The more you rub your hand, fingers, or face on it.. it will actually shine. This is brass. Not some magical hipster metal that looks cooler the more you talk about it.

StankyMi assume you are referring to the Patina that it will develop over time... which brass does, it will develop a patina over time... brass does that....

Like I said, if you USE this light you wont have a patina. Soft hands wont rub off any "patina" you left on it. If you want that patina use apple cider vinegar and piss..

StankyMThat is a forced patina, and you can get that quick.... a natural patina will develop over time, as a result of handling.... So if do use it, you will develop a Patina... it has nothing to do with "rubbing off" anything, it is just a matter of the metal responding to your handling, as well as other external factors... same as you see a penny that has been handled for years, they develop a patina from the oils in your skin, as well as the environment they are in, the more who handle it the more it will change too, which is why you see some that are much worse off.
So yeah, you should learn the difference between a forced patina and a natural patina...
The more you use and handle the light, the more it will react with the handling, and overtime will darken as the picture shows, unless you use something in the way of a coating like wax over it to prohibit or polish it on the regular, then yeah.... but if you just handle it as is, and do not polish it or anything else, you will develop a natural patina over time, which is what that picture shows from handling.
I have a copper one as well, and it reacts the same, i have only had it for a month, and it is already starting to darken and develop a patina from handling... since Brass is a copper alloy as well, it will have the same effect.
Maybe the natural patina shown will not look exactly like that in the time they show, but that effect will happen, as a result.
