Just wanted to make sure the tray underneath the knives isn't some flimsy flexible plastic that will crack and get brittle. Anyone know?

AdamsgOur engineer John put a fair amount of time into the design of the construction so that it would stay rigid and strong when you take the shelves in and out while both sides of the shelf are loaded with knives, and it's made of MDF so it should hold up just fine.
