Probably the best headphones you can buy at $200
if you are looking for an enjoyable headphone. One that is pleasant and pleasing to listen to after a long day at work, just get a pair of these. I have had mine since the end of 2016. I was able to jump into the original drop of the HD6xx. I have bought several other headphones throughout this time and I always ended up with these. the 6xx lacks quantity in bass, but it does not lack quality. it has enough for genres like Jazz, not enough for other genres though. I am currently powering my 6xx through the Massdrop Liquid Carbon and it just such a beautiful pairing. There is zero fatigue. the liquid carbon adds a bit of umph on the bass too. these are great headphones for vocals. Male & female After almost 3 years of buying and selling headphones, these are still sitting on my desk, because I have not found a better value than these anywhere

A Top-Notch Experience From Beginning To End!
From the painless ordering process to making sure that the product arrived on time professionally packaged, along with an invoice to the actual product itself - the HD 6XX - Wow! I have been listening to music for over 40 years and have never heard my music like this before. Little nuances that were never heard before come out here. Not like hearing it for the first time, but like hearing a different mix of the same song. Very impressive Drop, please give yourselves a big hand for making these beautiful headphones even more available for all to enjoy!

What are "open back headphones"?
Open backs project sound both towards your ears and out the sides of the earpieces. This makes the sound feel as if they are coming from further away. Good for replicating the directions of where each vocals and instruments are coming from; like at a concert. Close backs sound as if the music is coming from the centre of your head; you get less "directional" experience but they feel more intimate. Open backs leak sound so if you are riding on public transport, the people sitting next to you might look at you sideways wonder why you are playing music for everyone around you. Most high end headphones are open back so don't worry about losing any sound quality from the leakage!
What is the best amp (or amp/dac) to pair with the HD6XX?
They go well with my Modi/Magni Schiit stack

Amazing headphones
These are my first "Audiophile" headphones and they are absolutely a blast, although they sound better with an amp (as do all good headphones) they are still amazing amp-less and a great entry to the audiophile world.

You Already Know
These have been around forever now, so there's really nothing new to add. Competition in the sub-$300 price point is getting more fierce than ever(Edition XS, AR5000, Luan/Anser, FT1 Pro), but these still have their place at the very top of the stack. I actually love the plastic build. I can wear these all day long with insane comfort(after fixing the clamp), and I'm not afraid to throw them around a bit. And anyone who says these are dead boring has clearly never EQ'd them to be hilariously V-shaped.

The best headphones by far
Received it yesterday and it is hard to put it down. It has everything that I need and doesn't have anything extra. The packing is simple, the quality seems outstanding. The sound quality is much higher than HD 598 without any EQ. To my surprise the bass isn't bad and the leaking of sound is definitely not worse than my HD 598. On the other hand, the sound stage is quite limited though and I still feel all instruments are around my head (honestly not much different than other headphones).

Pretty Good.
I only got this two days ago (as of writing), but so far, it sounds great and pairs well with my Moondrop Dawn Pro. My only issue right now is a tiny dent/bump in the metal adjustment band, and I am currently waiting for Drop to get back to me on a replacement headband piece.

Still great after nearly 5 years
This product has received near-daily use from me for almost 5 years now (purchased Feb 2020). They're still holding up super well. The ear pads have warped a bit to fit the shape of my head, and they could use a bit of a clean there, but the top padding and all the fabric is still completely intact. Anything printed or engraved is still pretty crisp. The adjusting mechanism still works with no issues. The stock cable is still kicking with no wear. I just have a couple minor dings and scratches on the plastic framework around the sides of the cans. This area gets the most physical contact when I set the headphones down or put them on, so that's fair. They still sound great. Highly recommend! If you take care of these things, they'll last forever.

Budget King
Absolutely THE open-back headphones to get at under $200. Rich bass with no mud, clean and warm mids, and smooth treble… you can’t go wrong with long listening sessions.

Great headphones for first audiophile pair
If your looking for something to start your audiophile journey, this would be a great pair to start with. The detail in the music you hear is great. From hearing the separation of the stereo channels in CCR fortunate son, to realizing that ozzy and Elton John were singing at the same time in Ordinary Man, you can hear the details of the songs you listen to. Also the technicals i heard while listening to deadmouse and Marshmello for techno was amazing. The only down side is you don't have bass thump as others but it's detailed. Overall a amazing headphone.

Based on sound it's 5 stars
However these are nowhere near as premium looking as a hifiman sundara, for example, but based on sound alone they are 5 stars still. Consider a wireless anc set may look as premium as, but in a few years most become expensive paperweights, with only a pathetic wired mode available . I have a pxc550 that's barely Used, and redundant!! £270+ down the pan.
