Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Thanks.
6xx should be a more than a minor upgrade to 518, you should definitely get better vocals which the 518 seriously lack and more highs and bass with hopefully similar sound signature. I can't say for certain because I have not tried the 6xx yet, I don't get them and the he-4xx until another month or two. Bare in mind you probably will need an amp to power 6xx.
As of right now, I can say that the 7xx and fidelio x2 are a huge improvement over 518 or any thing else lower end I have tried. You get clearer sound, more accurate and detailed (like drums, guitars.ect) punchy sound, more bass, more highs. Also there's way better separation (imaging and soundstage). The sound is worth the money. I sold off my x2 because I can't keep every headphone I buy but from memory and in short, x2 better built, both about same comfort, sound wise are very similar in sound signature (x2 maybe sounding a little better, more bass, less dark and more towards being bright, but I really like the 7xx and the separation of the sounds and I do kinda prefer a darker sound, but it's a high quality dark sounding headphone).
