Just got my DAC and can't get it to work. Red LED means...? Ordering every cable for every connection until I get it working. Going to be moderately upset if I waited 9 or 10 months for a faulty device.

jysunI had to power toggle a couple of times on a different usb port to find one that worked and got windows attention. No idea what setup or connections you are trying tho.

jysunI am having an issue with USB 2.0 driver support on Windows 7. Sent a request to tech support and waiting for a reply. It did work by optical cable.

jysunOptical cable works through tv, can’t get the optical or usb work work with my MacBook Pro. For some reason I thought MacBooks had optical through their headphone jack, but I can’t get it to work. MacBook Pro/iPhone - AIRIST R-2R dac - cavalli tube - beyerdynamic amiron. Cable suggestions for iPhone?

jysunJust unpacked my Airist today and nothing but a RED indicator and: USB Audio 2.0 This device cannot start. (Code 10) on my Windows XP and Windows 7 machines?? Began to think I had a DOA Finally brought in my Windows 10 laptop and driver loaded right up and RED indicator went WHITE as soon as a digital stream started playing, so DAC is good just the embedded driver in the R-2R is not compatible with older Windows OS's the XMOS driver site says to contact the manufacturer?? Hopefully some DROP technical support can point to drivers required. This limitation should be noted in the specifications. My whole music server is built around an old XP machine, but lately I have had to use newer devices with Windows 7 to get compatibility.

eeagleYou need the UAC driver which comes with Windows 10, or use another input. They should have given a better warning for windows XP/7 users..

verifonixThanks, do you know if the Windows 10 UAC driver can be copied and used on the older OS's, or are XP/7 user's just SOL. What is the exact name of the driver file? Unfortunately my machines have no sound cards that provide digital coax or optical out, I've always used external DACs & Amps via USB. I suspect Airist could easily provide these drivers and should provide a link to them; so far the support link in this thread still does not allow one to actually send them a request.

verifonixAirist or Drop should be able to provide a xmos driver for usb to 7 users as the xmos driver still supports 7 but not any sooner.

jysunHey jysun, DRIVERS For Macs- RDAC should be found in Audio Output Devices as "USB Audio 2.0". For Windows- I have a link to the driver here and we will work on a product page link... verifonixYes I saw his message and downloaded the driver package. The Windows XMOS driver worked flawlessly with Windows 7. Installation was effortless, simply using the SETUP.exe and driver was immediately available in the Foobar2000 music app I prefer. I have the R-2R routed to my THX AAA™ 789 (lucky enough to get back on a Dec DROP) and sound is SUPERB driving my HE560 planars. with some hi-res audio. The driver package did not work for XP; and I was able to use the R-2R previously on my Windows 10 machine with its default driver.

verifonixYes, I agree in part. I don't begin to understand XMOS drivers, but I do know it takes a different one for each of the DACs I own that use it. I upgraded my Grace Design m9XX driver a while back and it would no longer work with XP; luckily I still had the old one to revert back to. The puzzler is the UAC (Universal Audio??) driver in Windows 10 worked P&P as soon as I plugged in the R-2R USB.

eeagleWindows has a UAC driver that works with Xmos, yes. But it is only available on W10 :)

jysunDon't know what computer OS, or play device, you are using but "Red" LED means the unit has not detected a source. It may be that you are not connected to the source indicated on the front "source LEDs" . Repeated push switching will get you a match. So, if you are using USB, make sure you are switched to that choice etc. Also make sure your computer or output device recognizes the Airist as an input/playback device.

AudioproThe way it was programmed is to sense an incoming playback signal...so LED will be white if music is playing, generally. (If your source is playing a track, then switch through the inputs to lock on and see a white LED.) Please note: I do have a Gustard USB-to-SPIDF converter connected to a powered hub that triggers the white LED even if I am not playing a track.

Ringing in PC38X's

I recently got this headset, and wow is it good. My only issue is when certain people talk on discord, I can hear a really high pitched ringing. I fiddled with a bunch of settings, computer audio and discord, and nothing seems to solve the issue. It is primarily if not all in my right ear only. Is there something wrong with my headset, or was that ringing always there I can just hear it cause the headset is THAT good? I haven't had any issues with any other application, though I have yet to test if I can hear the ringing on a different version of discord, say on my xbox instead of my pc. Only other issue I've had is occasional static, but I can't tell if it's from the headset or the show/game/etc.

Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?

Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Recommendation for my next headphone set? I have Koss 95x

Hey all, What would you recommend I get next and why? I have Koss ESP-95x electrostatic massdrop headphones. These are my first and only audiophile set. I love them. I think my only real requirements is $500 or less for the headphones and that they have a little more low end. I don’t need thump but these are really light on lows…but the experience is still awesome. Also any recommendations on an amp? I only have my electrostatic thingy. I am using the Topping D50 DAC. thx!!
