Hi,
I wanted to give a quick update to everyone. We’re extending this drop to the 28th of June to give more people a chance to join this drop. This extension won’t have an impact on the shipping time.

kunalkumarHave to say this is a low move that lowers my trust towards Massdrop, locking in the early committers and then giving everyone else the option to choose a month closer to the drop. Being able to trust that you get the same treatment no matter when you join is a must for me. For no good reason, why not just delay the charging for the month if adding extra customers is the goal?
ArnthorArnthor, I appreciate the point you are making. I'd like to give you more context so that it can provide more clarity into the extension.
When we negotiate with the factories, we have to lock in a production slot that requires us to send the order to the factory by a certain time, upon which the production process is set into motion. This timeline is also used by us to calculate the shipping date for the community, so that we can provide an accurate estimate.
We had a significant number of tickets sent to our Support team by community members asking to be able to join this drop at a later date. Since we are below the max quantity that the factory can produce within the production timeframe, they mentioned that would be able to accommodate addition orders provided that the production slot is locked down and that the orders are below the max quantity. Hence, we thought that the extension would be beneficial for everyone.
I hope this gives you more insight into the process. All this being said, your point has been taken very seriously, and I am presenting this feedback to the team here.

kunalkumarThis doesn't shed any light on my point, you are shafting the early committers compared to those that come in after the extension. Your reason gives no information why this is handle in a way that those that are hesitant to commit are favored over those that committed earlier, or why this was done at the last second with out giving people time to respond. If what you said is true and this has the customers in mind then a email explaining what is going to happen and a delay of the credit card charge would have been a easy thing to do and made sure that everyone is treaded equally.
But thanks for clearing up that Massdrop will put nagging non-customers over those that simply pay expecting good service.

kunalkumarIf this is the case, why not defer the collection of payment until the end of the extended time?
While I had money set aside for this purchase, I would rather buy into it at a later point as it's an option rather than having it be collected a month earlier. I think many others would agree and the issue here is with transparency in communication.

ArnthorCompletely agree. It's unethical to change the end date and then charge the early adopters without any notice or options. And trying to accommodate those who wanted to join at a later date? Let's not kid ourselves, this is the third drop of these shoes and just like other massdrop exclusives, I'm certain there will be countless more. At the end, this only affects the early adopters and was handled poorly.
ArnthorThis extension will not impact the community members who have already joined. I want to make it clear that we came to the decision by looking at this from a place of 'what would be good for the community as a whole' rather that a place of 'we should favor later joiners over earlier joiner".
I do see how it could be perceived otherwise and its good feedback for us. I will make sure that this is taken into account.

kunalkumarI understand there was no intended favoritism and the estimated shipping time is unaffected, however this does affect the members who have already joined as they're having their money withheld a month earlier than need be. While I understand the reasons for extending the drop, why not extend the payment collection as well?
SpookyCThe payment was collected so we can hold the slot in the factory's production line.
All this being said, I've followed up with the team internally, and they have confirmed that the earlier joiners will have their order shipped first as the production has already begun. @SpookyC @Arnthor

kunalkumarJust going to add a counterpoint to previous posters:
Thank you Massdrop for these collaborations! Although I joined the 2nd drop and had to return mine due to QC issues (reordered some on the drop that just ended), I am excited for these shoes to once again have these shoes.
For those that are complaining about them extending the drop: if it helps ease your indignant mind, just think about it as Massdrop conducting a 4th (?) drop that happens to start when the previous one ended. It's not like they haven't offered the product again in the past.

pearteacharTo be clear, I don't have any issue with the extension of the drop and that hasn't been my complaint the entire time. My complaint is that as per Massdrop's own words, " After the drop ends, payment will be collected..." The drop did not end as it was extended, yet my credit card was charged. Just as the drop, the payment processing should have been deferred.

SpookyCIf you can't afford to have $250 collected early from your credit card by 20 something days, maybe you shouldn't be on MD. What a petty ass thing to be butt hurt about. Someone throw some pennies this guy's way.

kunalkumarHi kunalkumar, I was wondering if there was any updates on shipping? I've reached out to support with no success, and no emails have been sent. Obviously we are well past the July 25th estimate, and myself and many others would appreciate an update. Thank you for your time!
