I was excited and curious when I found this tent. The price, weight and unique design were all factors in my decision to purchase it. Being created by a fellow Canadian was also a huge plus for me.   I have not actually overnighted in the tent yet but my first impressions are:   ·        Setting up the tent is quite simple and rapid. My first pitch took only a few minutes ·        The tent has good and secure stance. I set it up in a strong prairie wind and the structure remained quite taut even without the guylines. ·        The vestibules are quite roomy and allow for much gear. I also love the idea of having two doors allowing for extra ventilation and great views. ·        Although much smaller than all my previous tents, I felt quite comfortable when lying in the tent. ·        Getting in and out was also a breeze.     A couple of concerns with this product are: ·        Being in Canada I was quite aware of exchange rates, shipping and taxes yet I was still floored with the extra shipping and duty costs when I received the order.  I was subject to a $43 duty on receipt of the parcel. A $10 Canada Post customs and duty handling fee and the PST/GST also applied. This is definitely something you need to factor in on your purchasing decision if Canadian.   ·        A major concern occurred when buckling the inner to the fly (near the pole grommet) and pulling to tighten the area, the stitching ripped. (See image).  Although this happened only on one of the buckles I am wondering if there will be further issues with stitching. I am now forced to repair a new product.

mglaveenSorry to hear about this stitching issue. That looks like a quality problem with your tent. I haven't seen other people report this, so I think this is a rare/isolated instance where it wasn't properly sewn (e.g. they likely missed backstitching the end so it unraveled under tension). If you get in touch with Drop's customer service I expect they'll be quick to replace it, so you shouldn't have to repair it yourself. I've made a note of this and will keep an eye for any similar issues. Regarding duties, yes the Canadian government has an extra tariff on tents which is unfortunate. As I recall it is 18%, so you often get charged that plus $10 handling plus normal sales tax. It applies to most tents coming into Canada (e.g. I've been charged it before on an MSR tent) and it is upsetting.
