I have to say that I am really looking forward to this knife. I see that there are a bunch of people out there complaining about price and the aluminum. For one the price is about average for what the knife is compared to the rest of the knife world these days. Second the whole aluminum thing, isn’t Protech sort of known for their aluminum handles? Why wouldn’t this be aluminum as well, it is a collaboration isn’t it? As for the whole everything needs to be titanium I enjoy collecting knives because of the variety, if you only want titanium there are a thousand other options out there, you don’t have to get upset because one knife is made out of aluminum because it’s made by a company that has a great record with aluminum handled knives. Thats all I’ll be quiet now.

ErhonI am beginning to convert and think the same thing. So what is wrong with aluminum? Its lighter, which is good. Its a bit softer, so one might notice a few more dings and scratches than with Ti. Is that bad? If its a "user" for you, than you already don't mind the dings and scratches, right? And it will be a lighter carry as well. And if you don't use your collection knives, and they are safe queens, then they are protected from damage, right, so still no problem. I still think the price is a bit higher that it should be from a mass purchaser, but I am no longer having an issue with the aluminum thing that everyone is all worked up about. And yes, Protech = Aluminum, and not just for this one knife.

ErhonMy issue with Aluminum is thermal conductivity... it always feels cold in hand. Ti is much nicer to handle on cold winter mornings.

microgeekbrandonHmm I guess that’s something to consider. I guess I haven’t noticed. I have a couple knives with aluminum handles but even despite Minnesota winters haven’t had too much trouble. I guess I always figured if you’re going to use a knife in the winter it’s going to be a bit cold no matter what, unless it has frn or g10 handles. That’s why I usually wear gloves. But to each their own.

ErhonIt's not aluminium, it's titanium. This knife is a titanium frame lock with a damascus blade and a stainless steel overtravel stop.
It has all the same parts as my spyderco mantra 2, just smaller with a lot more milling.

Thanxxx55I think your in the wrong discussion thread this is the Protech x Ffkw xDrop Mordax thread which is definitely an aluminum button lock flipper with 20cv steel. You may be thinking of the other Ferrum Forge designs. I’m also pretty sure it’s much bigger than the mantra but I haven’t had one of those
