Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

"Unfortunately, there was a delay in the shipment of parts from third party suppliers to HiFiMAN, which resulted in a production delay pushing the ship date back to September 30th.
To minimize the delay, HiFiMAN and Massdrop are splitting a $65,000 expense to upgrade the original sea freight shipping method to air freight. This additional expense reduces delivery time by 3-4 weeks, making it possible to ship by September 30th instead of what would have been October 30th."
I'l be happy if these are "the poor man's HI-FIMan headphones, but the more I think about the price and look at the build quality in the pics plus the reviews online, they're veeery chinese.
P.S. Isn't that a bit racist?
I am very curious about your comments - if you are suspicious about MD's business practices, why did you join the deal? If you are suspicious about the quality of the item, why did you join the deal? And I do not under stand about you comment of .... "veeery chinese"... Would you mind to elaborate?
Lastly, MD announced that anyone does not like to wait can ask for refund. Life is too short to to hold a grudge on something that's totally not worth it. Get your money back and go buy something else that makes you happy.
But to charge someone for a product and not ship for half a yr is not correct in principle and otherwise. Also, THE FIRST EMAIL from them I have received is TODAY, with the same message posted by @KUMAR above, only after bitching on this site, again is not a good business practice.
As far as the comment about build quality, it has nothing racist in it. I consider myself an informed consumer, and being an economist by trade, I understand certain chains of supply, and am knowledgeable of pricing practices , and policies. Would you care to tell me : with a selling price of 100$, what do you think the manufacturing cost is for these (or any other product), considering the parts supplier's profit, HIFIMAn's profit, MassDrop's profit, the shipping costs (3-way before them ever being shipped to you as a final product), the man hours invested by MassDrop to put all this together and to put out the fires resulting from this screw-up?
Anyway, as far as retiring from this drop, it's not worth doing anymore, because if I have waited this long, OBVIOUSLY I have purchased something else. These have become like a diamond necklace for my cat - totally pointless. I needed them THEN - NOT half a yr later. But hey, I paid the money, so I will wait for them. I the future, I will use MassDrop if I ever need a diamond necklace for my cat.
About their business practices, everyone (may be you are the exception) join the drop knows that money has to be paid up front and we got the goods later. That's stated clearly in every drop. If you do not like it, do not join. Since you joined, that means you agreed to it. I am not taking the side of MD but it is not fair to complain about this practice at this point. You (we) are not happy about the delay, focus the complaint on the delay. Looked like MD screwed up on sending the email notification on the delay to you in a timely manner, yes, you should complain about their customer service.
I think it is fair to say that we all have a feel of what we are getting for the money we paid when we saw this deal, As the saying goes, one got what one paid for. I am sure you do too since you are an informed consumer. Then the question is why did you join the deal if you think the quality is not commensurate with the price you paid?
This is my first MD purchase and I am not happy about how it is going. To be honest, when MD kept extending the deadline and the number of purchases kept going up to the thousands, I was feeling a little worry. I was worry that the deal is getting very big and MD/Hifiman might have problem handling it. Well, I guess my gut feel materialized.
