Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. I don't want to write it off on the first day or two, thus why I'm waiting a couple more days especially once I get the new tips. From reading other's reception of it, I expected it to be an incredible step up, similar to, say, moving from 598's to the TH-X00's; a huge difference in the way they sound. Don't worry, I'll come back and be sure to share my opinion in a week or so after I've spent quality time with it.
As for tips, you're getting the Comply foams? I found that they made the sound noticeably warmer, the bass sounded not as punchy. This might be to your preference thought who knows? I still prefer foams for comfort though the bores of these are large enough that it sometimes bothers my small ears when using foams.
The first day of using it I found they were extremely laid back, but the last few days I'm not sure if because of acclimation or burn in (or settling on the JVC tips), but they've become nicely engaging. If it doesn't work out though, there's probably plenty of people willing to take them off your hands.
