Great news! Look like we will get a real high quality headphone close to HD 660. Disappointing sales number of this drop gave Sennheiser a warning: consumer has no interest and no confidence in Sennheiser. Sennheiser has to ship us a real high quality one to bring back consumer interest.

Consumer do have interest and confidence in Sennheiser, the last hd 6xx drop got 9.5k sold, and this is the 4th or 5th drops for 6xx? The problem with Hd58x is the damn "Estimated Ship Date", never took that long to ship be4.

Confindence in Sennheiser isn’t the problem at all. There problem was that the HD6xx’s were still available for the majority of the 58x drop. The 6xx’s were only $50 more, ship 3 months sooner, and we know exactly what they are. The 58x are somewhat unknown, and are quite a way off from being shipped. I bought both. It was weird timing by Massdrop.

"we know exactly what they (HD6XX) are." Right on! With the HD6XX drops, people knew (if they did some simple research) EXACTLY what they were purchasing thanks to them being on the market (as the HD650) and being reviewed by thousands and thousands of people for 15 years. These HD58X's are totally new (where it counts) and have not been put to a consensus by more than a handful of reviewers with pre-production units. In 5 months, and after those of us who were willing to take a gamble on these begin to give our opinions en-masse, the future of the HD58X and future drops will surely be much clearer. I just purchased a pair of BD DT770's and after hearing them for myself I wasn't surprised that they were exactly what I expected them to be thanks to the many reviews I read.

The DT770’s are awesome! I’ve got the 80 ohm’s. So comfortable, my favourite closed backs without a doubt.

I tried the 80's and the 250's, and I settled on the 80's. Fantastic headphone!

I have the 80's and like them, but don't think they're great.

Then it's a good thing there are lots of other headphones on the market.

Actually just about everyone of the initial collaborations/massdrop "made" have taken a very long time to come out... I've been in on three of them trust me I know! If they do well, they come back they do very well they come back often do extremely well and they turn into "daily" drops

Actually NO! i mean yes most of the massdrop "made" taken a very long time to come out, but i dont remember anything took up to 7months, never this long. i can c u bought lots of items from massdrop, can u name 1 took this long to ship? "daily" drops doesn't mean they ar doing that well, lets say the k7xx, "daily" drops but only got around 23k sold, 5k for the NuForce EDC, 1.5k for Pinnacle PX . they ar not doing " extremely well " compare to the hd6xx with over 40k sold which is not a "daily" drop.

The first drop for production run for 58X closed in 2018 and will be available in June... RE-00 5 months... ... O2 was similar and THX00 was also a decent chunk of time. Ordered the Elex in December and will be here end of April/may. The HD6XX has dropped only a handful of times, the K7XX has been dropping for years now and the demand is steady enough that they turned it into a regularly available item. You've been on the site for less than a year, I've been here for the initial drop of all the products I am referencing. Many of the newer folks don't understand that they don't have these headphones in stock, they use a completely new driver and don't have a lot of "part's bin" pieces so the lead time will longer than a simple livery change.
