View Full Discussion Wow , really MD. You didn't even sell over 2k headphones yet I receive a serial number of 4250. This is complete BS.
Sucks that you didn’t get the low # you were promised. But at the end of the day it doesn’t really matter for you enjoying your headphones.
It's about the principal. I was supposed to be guaranteed a number below 500. What other incentive was there for joining early?
You get yours earlier than just about anyone else. I’m joining on Wednesday and I’m going to laugh if I get a lower # than you.
What is actually on the cans, and most importantly,,, how do they perform?
I'm not opening it. I was told to not open it if I get a higher number than 501. It's so hard not to open it
Do you have to send them back for a refund?
This is the email I got from them
If you received headphones with a serial number higher than 501, please let us know by responding to this email or reaching out from massdrop.com/transactions. Once you have written in, we will be happy to help exchange for a replacement that has a serial number lower than 500. Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns as well.
How does that make any sense? How have they not shipped out the ones below 500 to other people?
My point exactly, doesn't make any sense whatsoever
I have a feeling they are making stickers and replacing the serial #s. This is going to end up like Ferrari where they lie about their serial #s and 2 people have the same #.
Massdrop made a mistake. Did you receive an email from Massdrop about the mistake? Some headphones for early supporters have serial numbers more than 501. You have the option to send it back for an exchange for the correct one.
I agree with you about the principal. I am super disappointed with Massdrop. I am based overseas and is using a forwarding service. Hence I can't check and send it back for an exchange.
I feel your pain. Pair 4209... How the hell did they screw that up!?
I believe MD ordered 5000 from Sennheiser. Expect a few more drops after Weds.
EDIT: only speculation
So, are you going to open it or sent it back?
I'm sending them back; the allure of #500 and lower was one of the reasons I purchased.. We'll see what happens.
I’d anyone gets a <501 and knowingly wasn’t in the first 500, they will have the legit serial number and probably not give it up. Especially if MD offers that sweet sweet $10 credit for the hassle. /s
This is where I'd put my numbered pair...
IF I HAD ONE.
What difference does a low serial number make? I'm just curious. I joined early too but what difference does it make?
Nothing, but people like low serial #s because it makes it more collectible. I saw one pair of these with a Serial # under 100 that sold for $500.
Replying to myself, received #497. Thanks MD for the quick correction.
