How does this compare to an sennheiser HD579? Does it completely blow it out the water or is it slightly better, or the same?

SkyrocksI would say it’s half way between « completely blows it » and « slightly better »... If you don’t already own the HD579, then just forget about it and target the HD58X. If you already own the HD579, then it’s a question of budget and need... the HD579 is a fine headphone, with lower impedance which is useful for portable gear or low powered consoles, but the HD58X is far better and its 150 ohms impedance is still workable without a headphone amp, because of its high efficiency/sensitivity. Hope it helps. Edit: after thinking it over, I would change my answer: the HD58X completely blows it! Lol the HD579 is still a good headphone though, it’s just not in the same league.

SkyrocksYou won't regret it. These are almost at HD 650/6XX level. I had the HD 598 SE and the 58X made them sound blurry and muddy even though they sound great on their own. God bless! EDIT: Motivation...

SkyrocksWell, it's not going to sound great, but it will be passable. I mean, the manual for that amp is a crooked scan of a copy of a manual. https://www.sybausa.com/index.php?route=product/product/download&download_id=281 They don't even specify the DAC chip used. The TI op-amp is beefy, but it could be amplifying garbage if the rest of the chipset is not good. Eventually you'll want to graduate to something better, friend. It'll be worth it.

SkyrocksYou're very welcome, friend. For $100? Hmmm. The cheapest thing I own is a Schiit Vali 2 (which I love) and that was $149. The closest price-wise is a Schiit Magni 3 for $99, but I haven't tried that one because I opted for the Vali 2. Maybe I will buy it one day to kill my curiosity for it. Massdrop's Objective 2 amp has great reviews and I would be happy to get that one if I didn't own what I do already. Based on the specs, it does nothing wrong. I've been tempted to get it, but I don't want to own a lot of gear, especially lesser gear than what I already own. But you should also get a DAC. You'd be held back by the unknown DAC in the Syba if you only get an amp. I'd go for the Massdrop O2 + SDAC DAC/Amp. That thing should let you transparently hear what the 58X can do and it won't get in the way for future headphones.

raansire7Also it is not really in my budget unfortunately, So for now I will have to listen with the sybasonic. I’m new to the audiophile scene anyway so I have lots to learn and experience. Don’t judge me but I use to use razer headphones now they make me want to throw up (not literally) when I listen to them compared to the 579 that I just sold.

SkyrocksThe HD58x doesn't need an amp. You may push them at a higher level with an amp, though. I admit that most of the time I don’t use the HD58x with any DAC/amp other than the 9$ Apple lightning to 3.5mm dongle with my iPhone X or with the mini plug output of my iPad Pro... Don’t worry, it works well and sounds very good and plays loud enough at the max. 1V output the dongle ou mini-plug output provides. The HD58x are efficient enough that they don’t need much power to play loud and well, with firm deep bass. And I say this while I own the NX-1S mini amp, a couple of Massdrop O2/SDACs and one stand-alone O2 amp and the Audioquest Dragonfly Red... and I don’t even bother to use them with my HD58x most of the time...

SkyrocksHah, we all started somewhere, buddy. No judging. I do suggest you settle with a pair or two and try to be done. This rabbit hole goes deep, and there is so much the ear can hear before we start imagining things. A point is reached where more detail or more sound stage doesn't matter and is not worth the expense. I've gifted away several pairs of good headphones, and I'm not planning to buy new ones unless there is a smoking deal. I can't resist. :)

raansire7I appreciate all your help from the bottom of my heart brother! Also do you know a good eq program? these kinda lack bass i just want to add a tiny bass boost to just to feel the kicks in the drums a little more. Ps what do you think is better for streaming music tidal or spotify?

SkyrocksMy pleasure, brother. ❤️ I rarely EQ when listening to music, but when I do, it's subtractively. If I want more bass, I lower the rest of the spectrum until it sounds balanced to my ears. That way, everything sounds natural and the original bass amount is left intact, just sounding stronger in contrast because the rest of the spectrum is lower in level. I use foobar2000 with the stock EQ in WASAPI (event) mode. It automatically lowers the overall level of the rest of the EQ bands if you do add gain, so the headphones never change character and there is no clipping from extending past 0 dB. Simple, but non-fiddly and effective. Streaming? I don't stream, so I have ZERO knowledge of those servives besides knowing that they stream music. 😋
