I've needed a new wallet for a long time. My old one was literally falling apart. So I purchased this on a whim figuring the price was right.
Here's what I think:
Pros:
Very durable and solid construction.
Super light weight and minimalist approach which I highly value and love.
Delivered as pictured.
Cons:
I don't think this is a con so much as it's just how leather works, but it's REALLY stiff. I haven't bought a real leather wallet like this before; my old ones have always been the cheapy ones you get at Kohl's or Marshall's. So I'm just waiting patiently and wearing it in.
EDIT 12/30/2019: It's been almost a year since I bought this (received Januaty 2019) and the leather has worn in nicely and I can fit about 8 cards total so my con isn't really a con. It still looks as good as the day I purchased it and I use it every day in NYC. It gets beat up and used hardcore and still looks amazing. If I could rate this a 6/5, I would.
Notes:
If you're looking for a larger wallet that can hold a bunch of stuff, this isn't for you. This wallet is tiny and minimalist in approach. I fit my debit & credit card, subway card, ID, and insurance cards into this nicely which is everything I want for day-to-day. But anything more and it becomes a little difficult to manipulate the items inside. This might get better with time as I outlined in the con section. Once the leather is worn in a little bit, I might be able to fit more inside of this wallet, but I feel that belies the point of it.
Overall, I love it and for the price and speed at which I got it, I can't complain.
Upon recieving this wonderful peice of craftsmanship, the first thing i noticed was the smell. Packed up in its own canvas pouch I struggled to get it out, however when I did, the fine grain and soft leather blew me away. Now this is the first wallet I decided to drop good money and I don't regret it one bit. The leather isn't treated so much that its never going to develop the patina but it can be seen as delicate. Scratches show very obviously but I don't mind one bit.
Overall, wonderful product, can't wait for the next.
The leather is definitely high quality. The wallet doesn't open when you put it on a flat surface which is great. The only thing I wish it would have is a dedicated sleeve to put bills inside. Quality seems superb though.
This wallet is great if you don't carry cash often or a ton of cards! I can get by with carrying cash occasionally by folding the bills in half and tucking it between the two inner pockets. Once the wallet breaks in a bit you can easily fit two cards in each pocket.
This wallet feels like it will last for a long time, I also like how the leather is wearing!
I really wanted to like this wallet. I love the slim profile and the leather feels nice. Unfortunately the stitching came loose within a couple weeks of daily use. Once the stitching started to come loose it happened fast (a couple days). I'm going to try and stitch it back together myself but not something I'd expect to have to do after spending $40.
While it's a good looking and seemingly well made wallet, I was mislead by the photos--it's not suitable for carrying cash as pictured, which was the main selling point for me. If bills are folded twice lengthwise, they can be shoved into the back inside slot behind or instead of a card, but it's not ideal. I'm disappointed. It's an inconvenient design.
My old wallet was big and fat, could barely fit it in my front pocket. I don't like to carry cash around, so just my cards and ID. This proved to be the perfect solution.
This wallet is cheap, made of leather, and has 4 card slots. Just perfect for my use, I can easily put this in my pants pocket without it even show a bulge at all.
11/10
Works well as an 'In between wallets' wallet.
For someone who doesn't carry cash at all - it solves my use case of having to carry 6 cards around. There's nothing wrong with the wallet at all - but there's nothing that stands out too, apart from its tiny profile.
Since getting it I've found myself carrying it in my jacket pocket more than my trousers.
The leather quality seems good too and looks like it'll form a good patina over time.
For $40 - I think it makes for a good wallet to use until I find the right one.
dxkbI wish you luck in your hunt for the elusive “right one.” The closest I’ve seen is from Margiela, but it isn’t the Goldilocks wallet I’ve been searching for, so I think I’ll follow suit and try this one for now… at 20% the MM wallet price while offering a slightly smaller form factor.
To be honest i expected more from this wallet, from the first glace i saw the lack of especial details and quality touches i get from my Chester mox. it is just a very simple design with good leather, but nothing more.
