Got mine this morning! This is my first mech keyboard, and I was on the fence between matias quiet clicks and cherry browns/clears, which were heavily recommended by friends since I am primarily typing. Glad I went with the matias.
General praise: - I love the actuation force; it is very satisfying to type on. - I have the quiet model and it is certainly quiet. It is interesting, reminds me of the difference between a trumpet/muted trumpet; almost unnatural. Between the tactile feedback, and the click from key contact, I am never wondering if I have succeeded, but it does not disturb anyone around me. (The secretaries' membrane boards are louder). - I know this is a personal thing, but the layout fits my typing style perfectly. It has just the right amount of navigation keys and my brain has already adjusted to "fn+pg dn" for "end". - I REALLY like having 3 usb ports right here. I use one to connect my trackpad receiver (because I am a jackass and use a trackpad), use another to connect my number pad; the other is free for usb key / dictaphone connection when needed. Small things, but still really convenient to have.
2 Critical comments: - The case looks cheap. Yup. It is actually very sturdy and I have to really twist it to see any flex. But, the piano black gloss finish reaks of cheap plastic. I feel bad since it is obviously intentional, but it would be much better with a matte finish to match the keys. - Next up, the keys feel cheap. Yup. They work fine and all that, but I will definitely end up hunting replacements. I know MD regularly sells the ALPS doubleshot ABS, but I am going grind on these for a while first.
