Are both speakers active, or is one a secondary speaker, e.g. the primary speaker has the controls and the other is a dummy speaker? If so, is there a way to hook up the two speakers in case the wireless drops out?

It seems both are active. There is no output for the second speaker on the back panel. Manufacturer site says they are identical and connect to each other: uStream One – Mitchell Acoustics Limited They also seem to have RCA line in so I guess they can be used in wired mode.
