Great solid and heavy case. Love the dark green color (wasn't teal-ish at all). Was debating between this or a GMMK pro and definitely appreciate the simplicity of this board.
Specs:
Momoka 65 w/ FR4 plate
GMK Hennessey Keycaps
Durock V2 stabs - holee mod + dielectric lube
Durock T1s
Very quiet, snappy and feels great under the fingers.
The plate options were nice, the packaging was neat and all bags were labeled. The case does ring like an anvil before you build it, but when using all foams it's not an issue. On the other hand, using all foams and all gaskets resulted in a stiff typing experience. Mind your placement with those gaskets, they don't hold up to fiddling after adhesion. The jst connection was kind of difficult for me, on account of my sausage fingers.
Bottom line: it was worth it. Great board at a doable price, with stellar results and a nice heft. Really wish it came with a case though.
Awesome keyboard, questionable QC and Customer Support
This keyboard is amazing. The colour is gorgeous and it looks WAY better in person. The green is vibrant and looks more like a pine green. PCB is top-notch. I honestly feel bad for not giving it a 5-star review, but I'm just disappointed that they forgot to include the rubber feet in the packaging. And Drop won't do anything but refund me $10 for the trouble. And of course, that won't pay for it, but what option do I have? Unlucky I guess.
The Momoka Zoo65 was never really on my radar but after seeing a quality build done with it I knew immediately that I needed one in my life. I pre-ordered this a few months ago and it arrived to me a couple weeks ago. Initial impressions of the early version content creators received were pretty meh and the board did not seem well received so I was a bit hesitant initially. This board is very reminiscent of the QwertyKeys QK65 in sound and feel so it makes a great alternative if you're not willing to wait until 2023 for a potential R3 of the QK645.
Happy I bought before price increase (Note I'm rounding up all 100.99 prices to whole num)
I bought my zoo65 back when it was priced at 190 USD, which was after the initial group buy period where the kit cost I believe 150-160 USD. While I think what I paid is a bit much, the zoo65 is my favorite keyboard that I've had the pleasure of using. I currently have it with holy panda x's with the fr4 plate, and it sounds amazing. The overall build quality and attention to detail is great as well. The machining is really well done and I can see both from the main page from momoka and the initial reviews by keeb youtubers that they addressed any early issues and made this board amazing. However, I have to say as the price stands now, I think 210 USD is WAY to much for this board. Personally, I think if they could price this kit at maybe 150-160 to compete with the other value/budget boards this would be FLYING off the warehouse shelves and into the hands of keyboard enthusiasts everywhere. However, I have no control over that, but at the very least where I stand I am very satisfied with this board
TL;DR: I really like this board and I'm glad I got it when I did, but I would not recommend it to a friend because of how expensive it is now.
The keyboard is overall great and sounds great. The green is even better in person and looks great and I like the design with the dodo bird.
The kit does not come with the gold screws like in the pictures but it comes with black screws. Not a deal breaker but something to note. My kit had PE foam missing the cutouts for the switch leads but I was able to pierce through it with the switches.
It has a very poppy typing sound. I think it sounds great. The feel out the box is quality from the color to the machining of the case. The Zoo65 is worth the price.
Great kit requires a little work, but not much. recommend for beginners
Coloring came out fantastic. the two plate options is a nice touch. would be great to see more barebones kits come with stabilizers. all in all, fantastic kit. would buy again
I got this for a buddy of mine because they wanted their own custom keyboard and I walked him through it and left him on his own. He came back about 2 hours later and it was perfect. He even got the stabilizers to be perfect on his first try. I looked it over and nothing is out of place so it's very beginner friendly.
