Hey guys!
For this drop, I teamed up with Moon Key and worked with them on getting one of their super awesome artisan wrist rests live, after seeing their amazing work on Instagram.
They have some amazingly detailed, hand-painted products and I figured the Koi would be perfect to showcase the team's talent! While I understand that most people will hesitate to spend more than $30 on a wrist rest, please understand that Moon Key products are hand-made and hand-painted with incredible details - with the overall process takes a few days to make! The result is a luxurious and incredible work of art which pairs perfectly with any desk setup. Furthermore, they've been gracious enough to offer 5 different sizes for the most popular layouts in the community.
You can check out some of their other designs here - https://keycap.tech/product-category/wrist-rests/, however this Koi one is exclusive to Drop ;)
I bought this during a previous drop and absolutely love it. Does anyone know where I can find replacement rubber feet for the bottom? One of mine had some faulty adhesive, and I can't seem to find them in the same shape and size.
Just got mine today, and it looks a lot more impressive IRL than it does in the pics. I'd give this a perfect 10 out of 10 but for two minor gripes:
1 - It looks like a single, microscopic sliver of sawdust got caught in the resin near the top along the edge of the "pool". If this hadn't been along the edge of the wood it would have probably been distracting to me, but it's so close to the edge of the wood rim that the eye almost incorporates it into the edge itself.
2 - When the wood was carved on the CNC, they managed to carve clear through the wood in one place the size of a pea. They covered it up with the mouth of the fish, and on a black desk mat there is no indication that there is anything wrong, but I noticed it when I was holding it up and angling it so that the fish and leaves cast the longest possible shadows (The shadows are what really make this wrist rest look so artistic... It is like there is this sense of realism, but that reality is dashed at the very last second in your brain by the almost cell-shaded look of the leaves and fish, so you feel like your eyes get caught between reality and fantasy with the right lighting). Backlit, it causes the mouth to glow, or at the right angle you can see the light through the hole. As long as I never buy a glowing desk or desk pad, I don't see it becoming a problem.
So, in the end, I think it gets a 9.9/10. Would buy it again if I had another desktop PC. It's so nice, I'm tempted to completely accessorize my desk with Koi.
Will you not process the resin at the bottom of the product? There is a risk of peeling off the resin if you wear a damage to the corners or the bottom.(If rawwood material, moisture is absorbed from the bottom, it is also feared that the resin will be separated by repeated contraction and expansion.)
Asdf4321The material used to make this is probably art resins, which protect some of the ambering chemically. So the color will not change easily.Conversely, it is not a perfect solution, so direct sunlight should be avoided in order to preserve it perfectly for a long time. But I don't think it's a big problem if you don't want to keep it until you get old.
