WarzYou are correct, if you are in a area with mosquitos you are vulnerable. We used Permetherin treated clothing with DEET on exposed areas and it was great. A tent definitely gives you more protection against insects. This is a shelter for the elements. The balance of lightweight, lots of room, easy set up and protection from wind, rain or snow. But what you give up is better protection from mosquitos. You should have an idea of insect level activity in the area you are planning to travel to make the best decisions for you.

ibex-docseriously all the nasty bug encounters I've seen and had myself mosquitoes are the least of my worries. Centipedes eating into people ear membranes, people waking up covered with ticks, snakes finding cozy spots.... I like tents :)
