Just to be clear, you are paying a premium for a 6th gen i7 while the 8th gen was just released.

ferretallicaTrue but you are sacrificing that for a kick ass discount. This unit has killer discount and a great buy if you are in the CAD/3D/Video editing field of work.

p_irateYou can get much better value machines for the price. HP Zbooks from the same generation can be had for much less, or around half the price if you're willing to buy used/refurb. I'm sure it's a similar situation with Dells workstation models. Don't confuse Massdrop's advertised "RRP" with a real-world street-price discount of any significance.

ferretallica You maybe able to find cheaper 6th gen mobile workstations, but do understand that MSI has the Quadro M5500M GPU which is not available anywhere else. This is indeed a huge discount for what the laptop has to offer specwise.
As far as I know, only MSI had access to the Quadro M5500m for their collaboration with NVIDIA. This was the 1st VR Ready Quadro Mobile Workstation introduced.
For the guys who want comparison with Quadro M5000m, here it is.

For you to purchase a new Dell Precision with Quadro P5000 would cost you anywhere from $5000 - $5700.

p_irateNew? Maybe. A 2 generation old model, nowhere near. Try comparing apples to apples.

ferretallicait's not 2 generations old. For notebooks, 8th Gen CPU will be available 2018 March timeframe. So, it's just last generation.
