Excellent For Protection - Some improvements could be made
Great protection, good lining, and looks sharp, Not a fan ofthe velcro straps, they tend to be very annoying when taking the keyboard in and out. Additionally you may need to add stuffing to the case due to a larger size to pad it from moving around or becoming loose in the case.
This case has a lot of pros, but it's not quite perfect. This will fit a TKL or smaller. The outside is pretty rugged and will generally keep its shape under pressure. However, it's no Samsonite. The inside lining is really nice and soft, but there is a notable lack of padding. Inner padding would have greatly increased the structural integrity and would keep the board in place better than just the velcro straps. Still, it's pretty good for the price so maybe use this with a metal board to account for the lack of support inside.
A bit skimpy on padding and the zippers seem a bit flimsy... I got both sizes and in one instance I saw the zipper misalign and skip a tooth midway. With proper positioning (ie spacebar towards the hinge) I can fit my keyboards in with acrylic dust covers on, so not bad. ALT and CTL fit just fine and so does the GMMK. I wouldn't consider these regular travel cases but on occasion they'd work.
My Ctrl and Alt (both low profile) fit very well into these cases, even with the acrylic dust covers on. I gave it 4 stars because the TKL case has a large scratch on one side. Other than that, no complaints.
The reason for my 4 star rating was that it came as expected, I leave the 5th star for products that go above and beyond but I cannot complain since I got exactly what was shown in the product images. The black color is accurate and the velvet material is there, including the hard outer shell. This was the best option for me since my next best thing was the always in stock KBDFans 80% case, however this just happened to be in the middle of the run. I was looking for the velvet and smooth material for the inside and the hard shell was a massive plus and it’s a few bucks cheaper too. I trust the mStone brand because it has been in this keyboard category for a while and is experienced selling here on drop. I’m getting this for my GMMK Pro and since I was gonna get the 80% kbdfans case anyway the extra space doesn’t matter. I’m not a fan of the straps since bits of the Velcro will come off and get in the keyboard and I won’t use it anyway but it’s not a deal breaker and is a feature for some. There is also little to no cushioning under the velvet material but I do not know if this is common with other carrying cases since this is my first. In summary, this case fit my needs but you need to ask that question for yourself.
Edit: There was a delay but for the keyboard community it was much shorter than expected, but they only notified their customers the day of which is slightly upsetting however this should not apply to future runs of this product since it won’t be its first time.
internal size was (35.5cm x 12.5cm), and external size was (37.5cm x 14.5cm).
it was bit too long for 60% keyboard. There was a scratch also.
However, texture of the case was nice, and it worth for that price.
It is a soft case with a hard molded shell in the front and back, not a true hard case.
With this said, it offers more protection, and looks quiet a bit nicer than other soft cases I own while being a competitive price. I would definitely recommend it for if you just want something to make your keeb more travel friendly.
Okay so when somebody tells me I'm buying a hardshell case, I expect inflexibility. I expect Pelican. I expect to be able to use the thing as an improvised weapon and take whatever dainty sensitive equipment is in there and be able to use it normally afterwards.
Just so you know that is not what you get here. It is better than the slipcover soft cases... but has less padding and seems barely as protective as KBDFans cases (which are quite good, though also not hard or really advertised as such) and it's not really padding, more like fluffy velour to protect finish I guess?
Fits my ALT high profile well enough, I could not see jamming the CTRL in here
It's also closer to taupe than pink, the images here are a little red saturated.
It is compact and usable if you're just strolling around. Carefully.
saintentreriTo be fair, it doesn’t cost nearly as much as a pelican so your expectations were too high however you’re right about the cushioning, there’s like no cushioning
