I'm currently using an MXL 2006, is this worth upgrading to?

FrozenMisterProbably not, although I'm no expert on MXL's mic lineup. Looking at specs they're cut from similar cloth. Your next upgrade should be a more significant step up, like to a Rode or something comparably "entry level production" caliber. These MXLs are okay for casual voice recording, but not intended for serious home recording/music production. They *can* be used for that, but you'll bump up against their limitations rather quick versus something intended for the purpose of detailed voice recording.
