The approach NHT Audio takes to their bookshelf-style loudspeakers balances simple stylings and impressive engineering to deliver a truly natural sonic response. The SuperZero 2.1 is part of the brand’s mini-speaker line, measuring in just 9 inches tall and 5 inches wide—meaning it’ll fit nicely even into a tight bookshelf space Read More
I used the powered version of these for years on my desktop along with NHT's 8" sub. I can't recommend these speakers highly enough. They're tiny, have a very clear, neutral sound, and when paired with a sub, can get pretty loud without distortion. But the sub isn't optional--it's mandatory.
PS: Because these are sealed/acoustic suspension speakers (ie, no port), they are relatively immune to interactions with the back wall in nearfield settings (my system is nearfield).
I still have the 2.0 version. Drove them with a Yamaha S501 integrated. Eventually spent a lot of money to upgrade, but the NHT/Yamaha pairing gave me at least 90% of my $2K monitors and NAD amp. Hmmm. Need to find a room to put these back in service.
1369icAfter a decade of listening to this great little NHT 2.1 system, I gave this ~2008 system to my brother, who got years of use out of it. I recently set it up again for my sister-in-law, and damned if that thing doesn't sound as good as it did on day-1 (I did replace the sub's amp, but that was no problem). In my own office system(s) I've moved on to considerably larger and more expensive gear (large 2-ways + class D mono amps + NOS DAC) ... but that in no way diminishes how good the NHT system was.
I still have NHT's very nice PVC (transformer-based passive volume controller), which I used for years with the newer stuff.
I have had the original version of these speakers for many years and they are very nicely made. I did build my own crossovers with better components but thay already sounded nice. I also have NHT's tower speakers with two of thesame mid woofers and a large side firing sub woofer. They also image well.
What Rowdy2026 said. They are fine speakers. I just tweaked the crossovers a bit. I made them sound different but perhaps not better. Depending on you amp.
