Drop Mech Keys Meetup Recap - Thanks for Visiting!
As you may have seen, we just hosted our first meetup in quite a while here at Drop HQ (Corsair HQ, but they seem to like us enough :) )! It was a blast to get to meet so many enthusiasts local to the bay area—it had been 10 years since I was last hanging out with keyboard nerds in the bay, at KeyCon 2014. We had a great time hosting everyone at the offices, checking out all the very nice boards y'all brought, and sharing some of our own projects/spaces! I knew it would be fun to host in the Game Room when I first saw it in person, but seeing it come to fruition was still so cool. Alright, I'll stop blabbering on now. xD Picture time! (Oh, real quick - there will be more of these! Stay tuned for more info and to catch the next one!)

Edit: Hm, PC went into sleep mode and the wired connection failed to resume after waking. Funny thing is that if I disconnect the wire, it still works fine wirelessly. So no issues so far with the wireless, but it's unreliable with a wired connection. Very odd quirk. I'm running Win 7, by the way.
Edit: Can't get it to work wired now, at all. It works fine wireless, but if I plug it in, nothing. No backlighting, no input. I've tried everything I could think of. Any suggestions? Faulty cord? As documented above, I've had problems getting it to work while wired right out of the box. But at least it was working intermittently before. :(
Edit: Went to Best Buy, bought a new connector, and it didn't work at all. The Noppoo website has no driver support, but anyway, the fact it was working out of the box suggests it's probably not a compatibility problem. At this point, I think something internal went bad. Super disappointed. :(
Update 1: I contacted Massdrop support a little over a week ago and after the weekend I received a courteous response from Henry, saying he would try to get it exchanged for a working model. I sent it to Massdrop via a printed label which allowed me to send it via UPS at no charge. Hopefully I'll get a new, working Mini 2M before long.
Will report back...
Last update (I hope): I got my replacement, which works well *most of the time*. There is some serious lag when it is wireless, at times. I haven't been able to figure out what causes it, but restarting my PC so far generally seems to fix the issue. If I don't feel like going through that, I will simply plug it in, or switch to another wireless keyboard that doesn't have the input lag issue. At least this one works flawlessly when connected. I also have a very slightly uneven base this time, but it's so minute that I don't even notice it when typing. The last one was perfectly level, but I'd rather have a working wired connection + the use of LEDs with unreliable wireless + slight wobble than no wired connection, even with everything else being a non-issue. Overall, then, it was definitely worth the exchange for me.
I want to reiterate that Massdrop's customer support was outstanding. With it being my first order from them, I won't hesistate to use this site again, although I don't think I can recommend this keyboard, due to all of the quality control issues it seems to have. If you get lucky and get one that works on all counts, it's a beautiful thing, but from my experience and the other comments here, it seems like it's the rare customer who actually gets a product that doesn't have some kind of issue.
