I like the rest, but I found that when something fell on it, it chipped rather than dented. I also found that the finish that was used has started to show it's age.
Overall, it's cheap enough where I wasn't super concerned, but I can't give it full marks. The material choice for the finish just wasn't what it needed to be.
The finish feels great for durability but probably not the best for showing off the wood grain but no complaints there. I would probably prefer a slightly heavier feel to keep it from moving around on my desk. Maybe routing out a hollow space and adding some weights might help but for now seems fine. There are two huge flat rubber feet on either end which are very securely glued down. I like the feel of this wrist rest a lot.
The "Ugyen wood" turned out to be dark mahogany with a very annoying, closed pore, satin/glossy finish. The grain pattern is quite nice but it's overshadowed by the horrible finish and the completely differtent colour of wood that the one I ordered... I will be looking for a refund as it doesn't match my keyboard's colour scheme at all :/
Made to do a job, and does it well. IMO wood is an excellent material for things like a wrist rest. It offers a soft feel, with a smooth surface, each one is unique with it's own grain pattern. The finish is excellent, with comfortable rounded edges and corners, and the stain really enhances the color of the wood grain. Rubber foot pads keep it seated in place on your desk. The dimensions mate with my current keyboard nicely in both width and height.
On a more personal note, it blocks the RGB strip on the front of my keyboard, which is great. Love my KB, and that light strip that runs around the whole thing, but the front, facing right at me, I always found to be too bright, and I was turning it off. Now I can keep it on and the remaining three sides provide nice accent lighting.
