This is so far my worst purchase from drop. Since the description says it's a universal plate and works for dz60 I bought it along the pcb. By the time I build the kit together it doesn't suit the pcb at all
Jack of All Trades (for 60% layouts), Master of None
If you know what 60% layout you want to build, try to find a plate that caters to exactly that layout.
The bottom right area (where there are a lot of empty space to accommodate different layouts) does not secure your switches as firmly as the other areas; the switches pull out of the board when I pull the keycaps. This also contributes to a different plate sound when you type in that area.
[Update after some use]:
If you use 5-pin switches, the switches don't pull out with the keycaps. Sound consistency feels less of an issue if you apply other means of sound dampening. I'll bump up a star, it's not that bad.
I didn't choose this PCB plate for any reason besides just generically needing a PCB plate. Holding it top to bottom, if you apply too much force(really any at all) the bottom metal will bend slightly. It can be bent back into place, just do it slowly as to not weaken the metal and more than it already is.
The plate came in a good condition with a sort lubricant on it, though a very small application of oil or lubricant was used, I suspect it just to keep the metal from tarnishing.
I bought the 2U left shift version(the 2.25U one is sold out) together with the PCB in “complete setup”. But they don’t align. If they don’t work together, Drop shouldn’t recommend them together.
This plate is not brass, it is some extremely soft nickel or zinc alloy I think. It was already bent when I took it out of the package and I kid you not if you hold just one side of the plate it will bend under it's own weight. I will not be putting this into any keyboard ever.
Overall pretty happy with this plate. Worked well with a DZ60RGB and Tofu 60. Arrived with a minor bend in the lower left corner, easily bent it back into place. It is easy to scratch the plate if used with a hotswap pcb.
Good solid plate. Sharp edges tend to shave switch body on insertion and removal.
This is a really good solid plate, and sounds excellent. My only grip is that the edges are not broken, so it shaves the switch body on insertion/removal, and the slots are very tight.
