Is Massdrop an "authorized seller" by/for Onkyo? If not, Onkyo WILL NOT honor any type of warranty on their electronics from an "unauthorized" seller. I purchased a receiver from a different retailer and after several years the main board flaked out. I contacted Onkyo for repair since it was within the warranty period. However, Onkyo required a purchase receipt. When I provided said receipt I was informed that I have purchased the unit from an unauthorized retailer and the warranty was null and void. SO, I was stuck with a 20 pound paper weight.

z0nephiveExcellent point. This same point has also been made in regards to some of the photographic equipment offered here - for Canon gear in particular. I wonder, and would tend to think that, most manufacturers would have a listing of authorized resellers on their websites. Or at the least, contact information to be able to question them about it before you purchase...
As with most things in life, when it comes to purchasing, it's: "BUYER BEWARE". (Implying: buyer educate thyself)
