For this amount of money I'd want a direct drive turntable. 600 is hardly entry level when there's so much good used stuff out there for far less.

AshtewanNo, you wouldn't necessarily want direct drive. Direct Drive is not better for Hi-Fi than Belt Drive. If you're a DJ spinning records with two decks and all that, then yes, you want direct drive. If you're playing records in your home for enjoyment, often belt drive will give you better sound. The vast majority of mid to high end turntables for home use are belt-drive.
