The turtable is the weak part of this package. The receiver is quite good, supporting speaker loads down to 4 ohms and has good ergonomic design with knobs instead of buttons. It would be grest if it were paired with a good turntable like the Fluance R-52. Google it.

For this amount of money I'd want a direct drive turntable. 600 is hardly entry level when there's so much good used stuff out there for far less.

AshtewanNo, you wouldn't necessarily want direct drive. Direct Drive is not better for Hi-Fi than Belt Drive. If you're a DJ spinning records with two decks and all that, then yes, you want direct drive. If you're playing records in your home for enjoyment, often belt drive will give you better sound. The vast majority of mid to high end turntables for home use are belt-drive.

I had a very similar record player, the AKAI BT-500, as my first. It had the same cart and I'm pretty sure the Akai is a rebranded and slightly adjusted version of this with a nearly identical tone arm. (I know for a fact the BT500 is a rebranded TEAC, pretty sure it's this model). It's a really great starting point for getting into records. The cartridge does a formidable job for its range and is probably the best option out of the $40 carts. My BT500 was able to showcase the improvements when I added an AT440MLb. I've since upgraded to a Rega P3, but it was the BT500 that kept me into records and led me to feel confident to spend the money to upgrade. If you're thinking about getting into records and also need a receiver, this could be a good option. I used mine with a Yamaha and was very happy, but I've heard good things about Onkyo.

This drop is a disappointment, doesn't even support full surround sound; and the vinyl player isn't that amazing.

Why can't anyone make a TT with a wow and flutter as low as the TT's of the 70's?
I have no use for a big ole fashioned AV receiver. I could use a new turntable, and like how this one doesn’t look like a DJ deck. Maybe next time consider selling it by itself?

Not a good drop price wise teac 250 and onkyo 350 on amazon. This drop has no return policy or warranty. Maybe you might save sales taxes depending on where u are. Just sayin’

BuckNekkidEdit amazon has the turntable for 259 so you’ll save 9 dollars with MD but don’t go blowing your entire wad at Starbucks. New info the onkyo is 347 so you’ll have 6 dollars barely enough for a latte.
