I received the pen in a simple paper box. It's not as what the description said that should have the gift box and soft carrying pouch. Even the product page has shown the package look, but what I received just like this.

rlausaSame here: I really enjoy the pen's lightness, but the packaging was a disappointment compared with the photo.
Also, I notice the ink flow always hesitates upon initially touching paper (and dries out VERY quickly, especially as compared to my Pilot). Once I start writing, it flows nicely. Has anyone else noticed this?

SilverFoxESQI agreed with you, the pen is very good. As far as the ink flow, mine seemed work out pretty good. Some new pens do have this issue and it will go away after writing it for a while.

rlausaOkay: that hadn't happened with my other two FPs so this is a first! One other thing I really like about the Pilot is the shallow threading for the cap: with just over 3/4 of a turn, the cap is already off and your writing. This is a big help for me, in my office, as I can start writing right away; my Pilot requires more turning and, though incredibly minor, makes this a useful pen.

SilverFoxESQThis is most likely due to nib being over-polished and having "baby's bottom". But before trying to fix this issue, and it is a simple fix, I advise flushing pen properly by putting few drops of dish soap in as clean water as you can get and then filling and emptying couple of times.

rlausaYou know, we all have a bunch of damn fancy boxes clogging up our drawers and cupboards from god knows how many pens, and I say, you're lucky! No reason to feel guilty or hesitant about tossing that cheesy box right the hell out of your life--good reddens! Unlike me, who's still fretting about the sexy box and papers that came with my M1000!

SilverFoxESQIt's more sensitive for ink just in the start than the pilots. Japanese pen to my experience have excellent unk flow and many ither pens are just staring in awe. Try an Iroshizuku ink or a J Herbin that are really nice flowing inks perhaps?
