So soft n thick...it raises my standards in what I like
its surprisingly thick and yet so very soft to the touch...I have been using the bare table for a while now. This shows me I have been missing quite alot. The colors pop brightly and the print is quite sharp. The edge stitching is pretty nice. I was thinking it could be a bit more densely packed but I realized that would just give the overall silky feel a sharp, hard edge that would irritate my sensitive skin (I'm hairy AF, my other bear level brothers know what a couple of pulled roots feel like ) .. i have the other colors and I plan to swap em now and again. I am well pleased with this purchase....I should get a body pillow next (there, now you know this was not written by an AI like everything else seems to be happening.)
When I unboxed the mat (shipped rolled up in a decent drawstring pouch), the first thing I noticed was how surprisingly large and heavy it was. Coming from my $5 clearance XXL Atrix mousepad from Gamestop, this was a different league. For a mat 6 times the price, the quality and quantity were at least 6x greater.
In terms of size, this can more than comfortably fit my 75% keyboard, wrist rest, wireless mouse and charging doc, two A5-ish notebooks, pens and pencils, watch, a snack stash, and still has room for other trinkets here and there. Definitely large enough for most personal/WFH uses.
In terms of build-feel, this is significantly better than a generic Atrix mat. Non-slip bottom does its job, the weave of the top is tight enough to feel smooth yet enough texture to not be slick, and the overall thickness is enough to give the desk pad some 'bounce' when pressed. And as a surprise bonus, it helps cut down on any higher-pitched pinging/marbly sounds, giving my custom keyboard more thock and a cleaner sound.
The only 'cons' to find are in the edge stitching and print quality. In terms of edge stitching, there are a number of areas around the mat where the red edge stitching isn't tight/close enough and the grey mat material shows. The bigger 'con' is regarding print quality. Compared to the render, the colors are not vibrant and the print quality of the red/maroon center ring and circle feel like they're in 360p compared to the HD clouds and waves. If the print resolution was higher for the central parts of the design, this would be a 11/10. (Luckily, my keyboard is usually covering this up so it's not as noticeable on the daily).
TLDR: If you're looking to have a solid desk mat without paying $50 to $100+, this is a solid option. However, if you're looking to buy for the design itself, I'd recommend it ONLY if you're not as nitpicky about print quality of those central elements.
It's the mouse pad I'm using both at work and at home, which speaks for the quality of the pad, as I've quite a few mouse pads to choose from. A smooth fabric lines the top of the PHANGKEY AMATERASU V2's surface, and this is able to deliver a swift and effortless glide with any half-decent gaming mouse. It's not as overly soft a finish as other mouse pads, but it's still comfortable to rest your palms on for the better part of a day. Beneath that lies anti-slip rubber to effectively stick this mouse pad to your desk with zero chance of lateral movement. This extra layer also firms up the entire mouse pad, and to keep it from fraying there's some smart stitching around the mat's edge. This stitching is really tight to the edge of the mat, so you can actually push your mouse over the edge of the pad without issue. For a zero fuss and well-made mouse pad, look no further than the PHANGKEY AMATERASU V2.
The printing is quite high quality along with the smoothness of the surface.
Nice dark maroon color.
The only issue is the new rubber smell but it dissipated after leaving it near a window for 2 days.
I got the Songen version of this desk mat, which complements my setup. I guess it can go with any desk setup. You'll like it if you're into Chinese or Anime stuff as well :)
I absolutely love the colours and patterns on this one! It pairs really nicely with my hardwood desk and adds a nice warmth to the colours on my desk overall while also being really comfortable and my mouse just glides effortlessly over it. Would highly recommend! Had one spill on it but I just washed it in warm water in the bath and it came out without issue, so really easy to clean too.
I loved this pattern and I collected the 5 different color variations. I made the mistake of allowing my son to use one, and he was not as gentle with it as I would have liked. Fortunately some stain pre-treatment and a low-heat wash took care of the issue and it looks good as new.
