http://www.supportforum.philips.com/en/showthread.php?22285-Philips-X2-Statement
From philips them selves - brought to my attention by a fellow head-fi'er
I don't think this has been resolved even with Philips stating this.
Philips X2 Statement Dear forum users and readers,
recently we have seen some posts discussing variations in the Philips Fidelio X2 headphones. In response to that we’d like to inform you as follows. Our extensive testing has shown that Philips Fidelio X2 headphones continue to meet our stringent quality requirements, including those on acoustic performance. However, as part of our approach to continuous product improvement there have been following modifications:
- Ear cushions are fixed by glue in individual batches: In an attempt to improve the manufacturing process, glue was added to the pins which support the Philips Fidelio X2 headphone’s removable cushions. Acoustic testing showed that this did not impact sound quality, however this modification proved excessive leading to some cushions not being detachable from the headphones in individual cases. For that reason, it has since been removed from the production process.
- Differences in ear cushion material: A more durable and consistent material was applied in later batches of ear cushion production. A slight color change is visible, but both old and new materials deliver the same acoustic performance - Variations in sound quality for headphones produced at different times: The acoustic tuning has not changed since the Philips Fidelio X2 headphones were introduced, and all products have been tested against identical golden samples.
- Hi-Res Audio logo is only present on the packaging of later batches: All Philips Fidelio X2 headphones meet the stringent Hi-Res Audio requirements. Confirmation of accreditation was received in April 2015, and since then all packaging printed bears the logo.
As has always been the case, Philips Fidelio X2 headphones is only produced in our authorized and quality controlled factories, and this will continue in line with our high standards. We are proud of the quality and performance of the Philips Fidelio X2.
again I am just relaying what philips stated. I am no way stating that its resolved. I returned the pair to amazon since the metal rings were warped and the sound form the right ear was way off.

FYI this was posted 01-07-2016, so it's still possible that we could get the Gibson stock. Still need Massdrop to confirm this though.

Accreditation in April, 2015 is not relevant to issues which arose six months later. Also,I believe Gibson is affiliated with the group which gave the accreditation.

I'm glad that post from Philips was already found! I'm the reply-er in that thread, and was hoping I would get a reply back from Philips, particularly in regard to extra ear pads being offered.
For $200 I'm in on this Drop, and I really hope these are a newly manufactured batch with ALL the changes mentioned in that thread.

That's the risk. Without MassDrop's confirmations it is a plausible reason behind obtaining such a low price on a limited quantity of units (aka vendors off-loading old stock).
Not that there is necessarily anything wrong with that if fully disclosed. Hopefully we are all adults here able to make rational decisions :)

I think you misunderstood me. I am asking for mass drop to confirm these before I purchase them, I am absolutely not saying they are fixed.

Hi all -
I wanted to investigate this as thoroughly as possible so I apologize for the delay in response.
From what I can gather, the units with sound quality issues seem to be isolated to a specific production run that was acquired by Amazon. Our units do have a small amount of glue on holding the earpads onto the four pins, however our vendor who verified this for us was able to completely remove it very easily using his fingernail.
I feel confident these are solid units given the following: 1) Time our units were produced (more recently but apparently previous to the glue no longer being used). 2) Philips products are always purchased by the 40 foot cargo container full, so unlikely to be from the same production run. 3) All accounts I've been able to find of sound quality issues come from the batch at Amazon with QC problems. 4) Philips seems to be replacing those affected without a problem. 5) You always have the Massdrop warranty to fall back on.
I'm also having a pair overnighted to our office and we'll be testing them to see how they match a pair of Woox built X2's that I have on my desk ASAP.
Please let me know if you have other concerns and I'll do my best to clarify, but this is the info I have for now.

I am sorry, but #2 item had me laughing my arse off. Boss statement if I ever seen one. "Yes, I only get my sh*t by 40 foot cargo containers. I will have 3 of those today."

Lol. Drops mic
Yeah, doesn't really instill confidence. #3 is just poor research. The "bad" X2s were not only limited to Amazon, check the X2 thread on Head-Fi, for instance. $200 for a glued Gibson.

Does that mean that these cans do not have the earpads glued on anymore? In other words, are they user replaceable? I do not see any mention of that. Thanks.
If only he said whether the pads are glued on or not. Oh wait, he did! They are glued on and can be removed by breaking the glue bond.

To be totally clear on this, here are the pictures I had sent to me of our vendor removing an earpad earlier today:

Are these X2 from Massdro built by Woox or Gibson?

So, if the earpad is removed and the glue is scratched off, does the earpad stay on without glue or does it need to be re-glued? I'm confused as to what the glue is for.

Hmmm So there is glue used on the pins (white stuff on top of pins in 1st picture)? Quoting @Whiskey post earlier below it would appear the very latest batches removed the glue all together since it caused inconsistencies...

Thanks a lot for the confirmation! I will stay away this time since these are made by Gibson due to a lack of trust in them.
I was thinking of getting a second pair for safekeeping! To be clear, I already have a pair that is almost a year old and love them.

The pictures on the main drop page do NOT show the glue on the disassembled headphones. Also, can you confirm if these are X2-00 or X2-27 or X2-28, and do they say Gibson or Woox, does it say 'Hi-Res' anywhere on the box??

Really Dissapointed in The Nuforce MOVE Bluetooth Earbuds
I received the MOVE earbuds today. The packaging was ok but nothing compared to some of their competition. I was not able to pair the buds with my Samsung Z-Fold 3 phone, so I tried my M1 MacMini. That paired immediately. There are no instructions in the box, so I went on Google and found everything I could, There is also no app. I got them to work right away. The sound is like it is not in my ear. the volume is VERY low and I thought that maybe I needed a different tip, so the bass could increase. .....I have gone a little crazy this year purchasing 23 pairs, all under $75.00 It is amazing what you can get for around $50 these days. I do not need to insult Nuforce, by listing 10 others on my desk, that are worlds better than these. I just put in larger tips and it helped the sound greatly, but the volume is really low. The sound is now more balanced and sounds much more like it should , but still, I have NO IDEA why DROP, who I LOVE, would bother with these..They do not need...

PC38X microphone volume too low
How can I increase the volume of the microphone of my PC38X? On my new Lenovo X1 extreme with Windows 11 the sound for my listeners is too low and I've tried everything available on Windows 11 and related drivers for the Realtek Audio 'card'. I've found a way to boost the volume using Sonar of the Steelseries GG Software. What other options would you advice me?
