But, say, isn't there a good chance you might slice the paracord right off the thing while you're using it?
I don't think I'm advanced enough in sharpening yet to appreciate a good stone. I've just been using one of those portable Worksharp field sharpening systems to get a very good edge on my knives. It fits the bill for me, with two diamond plates, ceramic rods for knives, hooks, and serrated scallops, and a leather strop, all in a transportable package around 8" long . The only downside is that it doesn't come with it's own carrying case.
This one looks really nice, though. Still deciding whether to spring for one.
