Alright.. now I'm gonna sound like a hypocrite.. this blade fits in my EDC criteria.. but goddamn is this little knife pricey!
@Omniseed sell me this sub 3" Rike knife.. I mean I've dropped some coin on a Spyderco Mini Native and a GMF1 with Elmax steel.. but I don't really see the value in this drop. Over $150 for a knife this small doesn't seem reasonable to me.
akapabsI'll step in for him, since I've owned one. Plus, I love Omni haha. Anyways, this knife is actually amazing. Absolutely lovely lightweight piece, with a solid action, and some of the nicest anodization work I've seen in a production piece. The price seems a little high, but this is a titanium integral, on bearings, and an excellent size for EDC. It literally disappears in the pocket, and the clip has great retention. It also has a surprisingly good grip for a tiny knife, I was barely able to get a four finger grip, and it feels good in the hand. I regret selling mine really bad, and would be getting in on this drop if I wasn't about to drop a bunch of money on PC parts.
akapabsI've got one and it's awesome, it's an M390 Ti integral with Rike's level of anodizing and a really nice clip, plus a crowned spine.
It's pocket jewelery but also a perfectly good knife, the stock is a touch thick but the grind is pretty good anyway. It's tiny but it's definitely two hundred dollars worth of knife. This, the ZD-006 when on sale, and the pen are probably the best values from Rike.
Omniseedand @pyrobunny I thank you for your honest and informed feedback on this lil blade. I appreciate you sharing your hands on experience with this knife and I will strongly consider getting in on any future drops for the Rike Thor 4. I've started this year with a whirlwind of knife purchases.. 3 new knives so far and I have 2 in the mail.. also one on preorder (TRM Neutron) which hopefully gets to me next month because it's been pushed back several times since last Nov. Think I need to slow down for a bit.. lol.
Thanks again gentlemen!
akapabsHey how's the Neutron by the way?
@raest yeah HX is a brand but I don't think they make their own gear, which is why you get Rike selling a lower cost variant of the Thor3 through them while most of the other HX knives look like they were made by a competitor to Sanrenmu or Ganzo.
It's actually one of my favorite knives going by the action, ergos, the feel in general. It's a big, lean, muscular knife that looks far busier than it feels. The pocket clip has an iron grip and needed to be broken in, the grind is a bit thick, but in the context of Richard Wu's design style it kind of makes sense.
akapabsIt is an integral framed knife. I'm personally not in knife production but can see that the cost will be more for an one piece handle. I have a few Rike knives and I love them all. At this price point for an integral knife, manufacturerd through a well established knife company, I'm in.
