Get it few dsys ago... The good: build quality excellent, UI overall nice to use, battery life, high output power. The bad: volume slow to change up-down and expecially the sound! Here what happened, after pairing with quad BA earphones Ultimate Ears UE900S :the first music I listen is ok, very good quality and expecially in some tracks there are small details that I have never heard before, making listening more exciting, with a light emphasis on lows that I don't dislike at all. Until I listened to Jean Michel Jarre's Equinoxe (CD rip, WAV 16bit 44.1khz) Lows, mids and mid-higs are well maintened, but some high frequency synth effects are heavily distorted making listening unpleasing! I mean: SOME effects, with particular pitch and modulation, not all, otherwise I would think of a defective unit. I read the player is based on a DSP+DAC architecture, so I think the DSP works too hard and while emphasizing small and near unhearable details, some distinct hi-freq sounds are messed up... of course is not a bad CD rip, I don't have this problem on other devices. So it works unpredictably, I hope a firmware update may fix this. UPDATE : Installed new firmware, now plays everything perfect. Probably before had a somehow corrupted old firmware.

website is Chinese, you tap on white writing with gray arrow on left under the orange button to download. You get a. zip file, inside you find two files:
RUIZU_A50.HEX RUIZU_A50_M2_20170805.fw
Copy them onto an empty mSD card (not big, 8 or 16 GB is ok) insert it into player and turn it on. It should start update automatically, then it will turn off itself. Insert mSD with music, turn on and should be ok. You should notice UI changed. Have you had issues like mine?

michaelreyes031569Ok good you can now enjoy your A50 at the best. I guess many units have been sold with this defect, not a big deal for Ruizu as somebody may not know what to do and ask for replacement...

ddpaSir i try to download the new firmware in the link that you give me and ifollow your instruction but my device cannot detect the new firmware i copy into emty 8gb sd card and nothing will happen sir

michaelreyes031569I upgraded mine following this, found on a discussion forum:

The site is in Chinese so if you’re not using Google Chrome, which can translate it, click on the white button which includes the the lettering (52.4M) and then select the right hand white button in the dialogue box that pops up.
Once I had the download I followed miriddin’s instructions.

Just be aware that you need to rename correctly the international version of both files! Otherwise they are not recognized!
The correct name of files MUST be: RUIZU_A50.HEX RUIZU_A50_M2_20170805.fw

ddpaIt appears this firmware has been removed. When I try the Baidu link it will only give me a downloader to install a Baidu Network Drive. I will keep looking for another source...

dblml320Out of curiosity I tried too, but it does not work like before. Before it was enough to tap UNDER the orange button (that downloads the downloader) to get the firmware, now a white window pops up for a while and nothing happen... maybe the window says "file unavailable" I can't read Chinese!

ddpaHello, Recently I bought the RUIZ A50 second hand. The device is not yet equipped with the new firmware. The link to the chinese website no longer works. Is it possible that I could get that update through you. I know, a little late but thanks anyway.

New addition to the stable.

I made the decision to take advantage of the $600. price on the HiFiMan Arya Stealth, here pictured with the Meze 109 Pro. I think 2025 is going to be a really uneventful year so far as new purchases. I've also upgraded my Fiio BTR7 to the newly released BTR17 and I purchased the Earmen stack which consists of Amplifier, Linear PS, DAC & Streamer.
