hunterw789I think the term genuine doesn’t mean much. Full grain is the best type. Top just means the top layers of the leather, which is not the best.

Is it waterproof? Not gonna pour water on it but if it gets dirty can I use a water wipe to clean it? If so it's much better than a cloth surface for me.

It's just a piece of leather. You can treat it the same way you'd treat a leather couch or leather shoes. Brief contact with water is fine, and you can also add some products to help protect it over time.

Can you use this as a backstop for writing on a piece of paper like a letter, or is the leather to soft to bear down a bit with a pen.
