I have had a Seiko Kinetic for well over a decade. Brilliant piece of kit.
I bought two of these from Massdrop for my kids - wanting a simple, analogue watch.
These watches, in my experience, suck. I could forgive many things, but neither of the examples I bought keeps anything close to correct time. Avoid like the plague.
CodsI own 2 (black/tan) and haven't had major problems.
They are sub $50 watches using a Seiko 7s caliber.
So, they may lose ~a minute a week but at this price point what do you expect?
Also, Kinetic and Automatic watches are not the same.
CodsYou don't ever get correct time with automatic watches (except with Seiko's spring drive movement). Seiko's 7S series is promised within +40 sec / day but most have way better accuracy (mine is within 15 sec / day).
Even rolex cant get their watches more correct than 2 sec / day. So if accuracy is your thing, get a quartz watch :)
CodsThanks for the replies.
I aware of the inherent inaccuracies of mechanical watches, I have a couple of higher-end watches as well as the Kinetic. A few seconds a day isn't a big deal to me.
One of the examples of the Flieger I bought is unable to keep +/- an hour a day, sometimes worse. The other is pretty ordinary, being ~15 minutes slow within four-six hours.
CodsThat sounds bad, have you considered using the warranty? They either need to be regulated or thrown out.
I gain on average 5-15 seconds a day.... 1 hour a day is a defect.
