modeanIf it doesn't say "made in Japan" on the caseback or face it is most probably made in Malaysia.

eraseThe SSA 231 & 233 have a K or K1 abbreviation after their model nos. meaning they are not made in Japan. Seiko has factories in Thailand, Malaysia & China. For this particular model, most likely Malaysia. MD does not indicate though.
