Sitting at the top of Sennheiser’s HD 600 Series, the HD 660 S brought listeners exceptional transparency with excellent low-end in an open-back build. Now, the brand is back with the HD 660 S2: a second-generation standout with even more low-end, thanks to an extended sub bass Read More
Are this just the standard version of the 660S2? If they are, why anybody getting these should get them from Drop? If they are not and are an actual Drop version, why that price?
Aside from the obligatory “drop doesn’t mean good deals anymore” comment, I do want to say that these headphones are legitimately good. I’ve had the 58x, 6xx, 660s, in addition to a multitude of other brands and models. These are worth the price, no doubt about it. There is no genre I’ve thrown at them that they’ve not absolutely dominated. They sound natural with vocals and acoustic instruments as per the 600 line, but they have the extension down low to tackle synth bass. The “veil” isn’t there, either. Super clear. Plenty of people got worked up about the “unboxing experience” but frankly those are folks who spend more time watching YouTube than listening to music. If you have the 6xx- or even the og 660s, these are better imo. Are they worth replacing either of those? I can’t tell you that, money means different things to different people.
mattrisAgreed. I bought them early from sennheiser directly. Now i wish i waited and got the drop points along with the purchase i was already going to make.
