Yes, Drop is charging $1800 (a bit higher than most other retailers) and is postponing shipment until August as part of a group buy. The reason to buy the 800 S here may have gone unnoticed by many passersby: The purchase now includes $900 in Drop store credit.

When I posted that, Drop was including 90,000 points. Since 500 points is equivalent to $5 in Drop credit, the conversion from points to dollars can be calculated by simply moving the decimal two to the left. So 90,000 points = $900.00 Looking at the 'RECENT ACTIVITY' section at the bottom of the item/discussion pages, it looks like no one took advantage of the offer, at least since I noticed it. I'd love to know if Drop would have honored it. I was tempted but ultimately decided that my pad-swapped Clear, Sundara, and HE-400SE have my open-back bases covered. At $1800 - now with $18 in Drop credits! - the appeal to purchase these headphones here is gone. Considering the 8XX landed with a thud - and has all but been forgotten by the headphone community - I wonder if Drop and Sennheiser have anything special in the pipeline.

Ah yes my math was wrong, this sounds more correct. That being said $18 saving for something over $1000 is just sad lol. But with $900 in store credits it would've been worth it though.

This headphone is selling for $1599.98 on Best Buy and is not pre order. This price is very dispointing.
Audio46 has them listed currently for $1599.95 with ~$80 in store credit as their own points. It also ships immediately too!

Interesting video by BadSeed Tech was posted a couple of days ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jrpn1XhVD_Y&t=822s What GAMING Headphones do AUDIOPHILES Use? The answer (from a few creators): for "high-end" - HD 800S (for "low-end" - PC38X). (Wish I have a disposable income for this...)

They have sold only 34 so far and 11 days left of the sale... drop the price to $999 and you will sell thrice as many. It's all about price vs demand.
(Edited)
I guess that they sold more than expected at $1400 so Drop increased the price to $1600.

That does sound confusing. I can’t affect the shipping of a retailer, but it sounds like you’ve got a ticket with Drop’s customer support. It sounds like you are taking the correct steps. If you ordered the headphone at a certain price and didn’t cancel it yourself, Drop should finish completing their deal with you.

Has anyone called Sennheiser to verify if this HD800S have full Sennheiser Warranty?

I’m a consultant with Sennheiser; these were sent by Sennheiser as part of their agreement with Drop, and these have the regular full warranty.

Just a reminder, Sennheiser has a MAP agreement for all authorized dealers. Manufacturer Authorized Pricing means that a small local headphone dealer will have the same price as a big online store on new stock, to level the playing field. For Drop, this means the prices of their non-exclusive products will rise and fall with the rest of the market. Because of this, standard Sennheiser products are covered by Sennheiser’s warranty. Drop honors MAP, but additionally decided to offer incentive in the form of rewards points to be used as store credit in future purchases. So, you’re welcome to buy from wherever you want.

Just wondering how Sennheiser's audio division being sold affects Sennheiser products on this site?

It doesn't. There's an interview with the CEO of the company that bought the division where he explains that we wouldn't see any change to what we are used to.
