Going through these comments is pretty cringe and frustrating. I see so many people complaining about Drop for pricing when anyone with knowledge on these would know that these headphones have to follow MSRP in order to be an authorized dealer. If they sold them for a price that was not sanctioned by Sennheiser, they would no longer be authorized and you would not be getting a warranty.
But people fail to realize that Drop was/is including $300 of free credit when you purchase these which is an insane deal. You could essentially buy these, and then use that credit to buy yourself a THX 789 Amplifier for FREE... like WHAT?! That is an insane deal. AND because they are authorized, you still get the full manufacturer warranty. That is such a good offering from Drop.
Come on people, I know you are stuck at home but there are better things to do in this world other than bitching and complaining about everything.
I do hope they restock and get some more... please @Drop+Audiophile@Sennheiser add some more stock to the pile if available... I really don't need another set of cans but I feel like these should be in any serious audiophiles collection.
You the man, thanks for that extra information. Good to know that even the employees are excited for the future instead of the opposite - that gives reassurance that we will continue to see good stuff released by one of the legends.
what's gong on sennheiser?!! They put entire store into DROP with merely discount. We don't want any of your store product. We want drop xx like hd6 xx or hifiman xx or Aeon xx or focal xx. That's the only way, we the consumer save money with the taste of high quality audio. Not to mention all of Drop xx product is success even some of them better than original products where some of them priced is even less than a half. All we want to say instead of bring your whole store give us a genuine hd8XX. Of course price does matter. So collaboration with DROP, hd8XX could be even better than hd800 with lower price! Come on DROP!!! you can do it.
We are aware of the interest indeed. There are many factors to consider when creating a new product, as something priced between the HD 660S and HD 800S would have to be, including having something interesting to offer beyond just a price cut... We are always working on the future of audio, and sometimes genuine innovation takes time, but right now we don't have additional announcements. Peace to you as well!
That does sound confusing. I can’t affect the shipping of a retailer, but it sounds like you’ve got a ticket with Drop’s customer support. It sounds like you are taking the correct steps. If you ordered the headphone at a certain price and didn’t cancel it yourself, Drop should finish completing their deal with you.
Mikael AnderssonI would buy them RIGHT NOW at $999 now..not kidding... i intend on buying them at their normal price from somewhere in a few months at $1599..but not at $1799 ROFLMAO.
I appreciate all the feedback everyone, but please direct any price based feedback or conversations to https://drop.com/talk/41716/brand-spotlight-sennheiser
Trying to keep this section less cluttered for questions and discussions directly related to the product itself.
I don't have the ability to move posts from this section to another page so I'll be cleaning any further price related posts after this one.
Thanks all
There are already a kaboodle of posts regarding the price and anyone can feel free to jump in on those existing conversations. I'm regulating new top level comments that don't add anything already unsaid.
Why is everyone complaining about this? If you don't like the product don't buy it. If you don't like the price look elsewhere. it take quite a long time to develop new products and Drop only has so much capital they can invest at a time to be pinned to these long term-projects and also have to companies agree to work on the products. Don't act scandalized companies don,t want drop to undercut their flagship products. Show your opinion through your choice as a consumer not making whiny little posts on product pages.
monotaurah... the classic "whiner whining about criticism he thinks is whining 'cause he can't comprehend opposing opinions". if you don't like the "whining", go somewhere else, like a "drop fanboy community" or "sennheiser fanboy club"
Honestly, I expected something more from drop.
A HD8XX or the HD 800S at a 1k price point would be nice... at this price, it is the same as my local retailer and it is not like there is a free 4pin XLR cable or anything... truly disappointed.
If this is the case, why would I want to support a company and not my local mom and pop retail store? At least at the store I know the guys there and especially in times like this I can allow them to earn some money instead of a huge company...
Come on Drop, give me a reason to spend my money on you!
JoshuaKWhile I am not directly involved in the audiophile community here at Drop, it seems as though everyone came onto the site this morning with the assumption that a new collab product or a "flash" sale might be live. I personally own a pair of HD800S but would pick up a HD8xx heartbeat, however there may be a number of factors - such as the amount of R&D behind making a set of collaborative TOTL cans. Even with a discount, I would assume the average consumer or beginning audiophile would think twice before spending 600+ on a pair of headphones.
We have worked with Senn in the past to bring some great products to the community, so I can understand peoples' sentiment regarding lusting after a bigger sale or new product. Hopefully sometime in the future.
I won't be supporting Drop anymore if this is what to expect. I'd rather support my local businesses who do good warranty and not shams like Drop did with the 4xx.
These cost the same as the Sennheiser website at $1400. The drop rewards is you get $10 dollars (15 dollars if they would have given us 1500 points). What is the real incentive here? You pay the same amount, you have worst shipping times? I was fully expecting to pull the trigger on the HD800S if they had a decent deal or incentive to purchase, but just dissappointed.
Edit: I also don't seem to see anything talking about a warranty included. If that is the case and you have 0 warranty then this is an absolutely horrible deal.
Edit 2: They seemed to have updated the rewards points. You get 14000 drop points now, that is a bit of a better but you still have no warranty, you are paying full price, and you only get a $140 credit for drops site. If you could reuse those credits to buy this headphone that would be much better
dncnexusDrop is an authorized dealer and we honor the full warranty of our products sold here! Drop decided to add additional Drop Rewards points as a bonus.
