I recently got this headset, and wow is it good. My only issue is when certain people talk on discord, I can hear a really high pitched ringing. I fiddled with a bunch of settings, computer audio and discord, and nothing seems to solve the issue. It is primarily if not all in my right ear only. Is there something wrong with my headset, or was that ringing always there I can just hear it cause the headset is THAT good? I haven't had any issues with any other application, though I have yet to test if I can hear the ringing on a different version of discord, say on my xbox instead of my pc. Only other issue I've had is occasional static, but I can't tell if it's from the headset or the show/game/etc.

For starters, the IE8 was Sennheiser's top-of-the line IEM back in its day. They used to sell for $500USD. The IE8 will blow the doors off anything under $300 if you like bass. This drop is an amazing deal - I am buying a set just to keep around as a backup to my IE80.
The cable is replaceable and interchangeable with the IE80 cable. I buy IE8 replacement cables for my IE80 because the cable is softer and has less microphonics issues. If you want a cable with no controls the standard IE8 replacements are available for ~ $30 from Sennheiser. The cable is straight but because of the IE8 design, you have to wear the cable over and behind the ear. The IE8/IE80 come with a pair of hearhooks that snap onto the cable if you want a forced bend but I have never used them.
Isolation is slightly better on the IE8 than the IE80 - up to 26db, which is very good.
The IE8 has the typical Sennheiser house sound. Mid-bass hump with neutral mids and slightly rolled off highs. If you have heard and like the HD580/600/650 headphones then you will like the IE8. The rolled off highs make for less fatiguing long listening sessions. The detail is there, but there is no harshness. There is a bass tuning screw and even when on its lowest setting the bass is pretty much unbelievable. If you are a basshead you will LOVE these. It's not a flabby bass, but a controlled tight thumping bass. Soundstage is also very good for an IEM. The IE80 sounds even better to me. Less mid-bass hump and more very deep bass. Much faster drivers with better mid-range and soundstage. IE80 have slightly better highs than the IE8.
Many different tips come with the IE8 but personally I did not like any of them. You must have a good seal to get the full bass impact. I personally use Comply foamies or UE SuperFi memory foam tips. The memory foam gives me a super tight seal and great isolation from the noisy train ride on my commute.
If the new IE80S end up sounding better than the IE80 I will get a set but so far I've seen mixed reviews, hopefully they sound as good as they look
If you have heard HD600 I would consider those as the closest to IE80 with even more pronounced bass on the IE80. Maybe look for a store them has HD600 or HD580 on demo. They are very popular.
