I was skeptical about the ZDP-189 blade, with all the talk about brittleness on the forums. Plus the fact that I already own the regular Delica in VG10 steel.
Well, turns out I really love the ZDP-189 blade. I think for regular everyday EDC tasks, the brittleness will never be an issue. Plus there's a solidity and density to the ZDP blade that makes it feel like a substantially more serious tool to me.
In contrast, there's a light and hollow quality (for lack of a better descriptor) to the VG10 blade that makes it feel somewhat unsubstantial. With my other S30V and CTS-XHP Spydercos waiting in the wings, I found that I never once reached for my VG10 Delica for EDC duties.
But not so the ZDP version. This has become one of my top four EDC carries, which also includes the Spyderco Slysz Bowie, Techno, and Sage.
I'm glad I sprung for this! Worth it even if you have the VG10 version.

K.T.NI too love the zdp-189. Ignore the brittle talk. I have the delica, endura, dragonfly, and stretch in zdp-189, and have never had an issue with chipping.
