What is SpaceFN and why you should give it a try
The SpaceFN concept - setting up your space key as a layer switch when held - is probably one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby. Let me explain how it works. My SpaceFN article on kbd.news made some rounds recently - quite surprisingly given the age of this concept. This piece you're reading is a condensed version of the full post. On my imaginary top list of the most useful keyboard features, tweaks and hacks, SpaceFN would deserve a podium finish for sure. But what makes it so special? @ideus I haven't ruled on anyone's preference and would never presume to. But I can tell that this issue is being blown way out of proportion, and by many users who've never tried it for themselves but only read about it (on Reddit). Also, it's entirely possible Tai-Hao changed their formula or process for the coatings after Miami based on consumer feedback. A lot of the feedback appears to be from Miami users. I have personally used a later Tai-Hao set with the coating and it's not an issue. YMMV...
I have a BumbleBee set and so far, the coating is a non-issue. I like the PBT feel, and appreciate the lower price than many other keycap sets.
