I got in on this drop to fill up a blank eSATA port on my thunderbolt dock, because hey, why not. I'm not gonna use that port for anything else and who can't use more attached storage? But, it turns out that it ended up being the USB 3.0 version after all. Whaddaya know about that. Model number matches what I ordered, but the specs for that model are USB3 not 2, and no eSATA port.

MikedelNo doubt. I specifically wanted this for the eSATA capabilities, and end up getting something that was entirely not what the listing described.
Kinda feel ripped off here.

FlesHBoXPurely out of curiosity why would you want eSATA over USB 3.0? They are close enough as to be a negligible difference plus it's likely any drive you use (other than a very fast SSD) will be slower than the bus speed anyway. Also if you are using an older eSATA port on your pc it's slower than USB 3.0.
Personally I'd much rather have USB 3.0.

SantiagoDracoI generally don't use spinners anymore except in larger raid configurations, which wouldn't work as external storage anyways. My current machine clocks in around 3GB/s throughput on the internal storage; easily fast enough for either esata or usb, so taking advantage of the 20% faster speed of esata vs my already crowded USB bus (which also hosts my audio interface) is handy when copying several hundred GB of data.
Of course, thunderbolt would be even better, but I haven't seen any docks with thunderbolt for a price that I can justify at the moment.
