When the Scalpel is fully extended does it lock up? Only image I could make an assumption looks like you would have to lift/force one side of the frame (a 180 degree movement) up over a ridge/raised area (apologies for lack of accurate terminology) built into the blade holding section, at the axis. So is this correct? I can see the issue of blade point protruding, dependent on shape. The one displayed here shows a more aggressive drop point type of blade so this would be the type of #24 shaped blade you would purchase to try and avoid this issue. Appears to rule out the 'Swann-Morton' #24 blade from what image I could find - http://www.agarscientific.com/media/import/at_a_glance_2012.pdf

I just see no point in it. looks like something you would forget about until you are at the x-ray machine in the TSA line.

Actually may may need to delete my earlier compromise that this is useful for a hobbyist. If I recall my childhood use of this correctly the Xacto blade is wharncliffe in shape which is ideal for its application. This drop is more a scalpel since the blade has a bit of belly which make this ideal for cutting through flesh. I’m open to some re-education if anyone has thoughts on this.

LazarusLongThe whole sell point for me is that I can swap brand new razor sharp blades in it at any time. 100 pack of blades is $10

I would have liked the possibility to buy the one with blue anodizing. Adds a nice touch of color!

Quite honestly, go look at the Nitecore NTK05.

Agreed, Titaner products are usually great! Indeed, if one wants a very small keychain type scalpel, the Nitecore is a good choice. I, however, would probably go for the smaller Titaner model instead, the Hummingbird (it also takes #11 blades). I'd rather buy a Titaner product than a Nitecore one, but that's just me (it also helps that both Titaner products are more aesthetically pleasing than the Nitecore product). Titaner Hummingbird:

Come on...you can do a little better on the price. $45 on Amazon, $37 at BladeHQ....make the month wait with it.

FriggaDOut of stock at BladeHQ. Although for those outside the US, Drop's combined item + shipping price cannot be beat! All those other sites charge a leg and half for shipping internationally. Not Drop.

BobrazMaybe, but there's still margin to "drop" to accommodate both groups

Just like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Wicked-Scalpel-Hunting-replacement-blades/dp/B00SX5MY6C/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=%2324+scalpel+blade&qid=1562172900&s=hi&sr=1-5 where you get cheaper knife, but it comes with 24 replacement blades--all for about twenty-seven bucks?
